Guest guest
The cox II NSAID's can, as you know, create increased stomach reflux which you may not feel but can irritate the upper esophagus (hoarseness, cough, sore throat) and mouth. They, also, can aggravate sinus disease which does inflame the mouth tissues. don't forget mucous tissue disorders (s- type) from these meds. I do not know if psoriasis can show up in the gums. I have seen psoriasis on the surface of the eyeball. --- jakie_d <jakie_d@...> wrote: > Hi > > Is there any connection between PA and mouth > infections (inflammation > & swelling up of gums)? I have had these symptoms several times this > year. Hi Jakie D, I am on MTX now, buteven prior to be diagnosed with PA, I had lots of problems with my gums. I've had extensive & expensive surgery and work to keep my gums healthy. My Peridontist has told me that many diseases such as PA can and usually do affect your mouth and gums. He even said that your mouth almost always shows problems well before you are troubled by other symptoms. Unfortunately, there are so many thing that can cause problems in the mouth, that it is impossible to pinpoint if it's PA, P Or a myriad of diseases or simple poor mouth hygene. So, Yes there is a connection and it's not just the medications that can cause it. Stay Well,
Guest guest
I would put cayenne in some water and swish it around. I had a friend use that on cold sores in her mouth, worked like a charm. TerriLynne <terri_lynne@...> wrote: Hi all,I could really use some of your ideas here. My friend has an infectionin her mouth, inside right between the top of her cheek and the top ofher gums. I went through the messages and found some information, including the tinctured mouth formula, but I don't have any tinctures onhand. Here are the herbs which I do have on hand:astragulus, barberry root, black walnut, chickweed, dandelion, eleutherococcus, fennel, ginger, lobelia, mullein, myrrh, red clover, red pepper, rhodeola, rose hips, sage, slippery elm, and turmeric.Would any of these work singly, or mixed with others, to help clear upthis infection? Thanks so much for any help you can give me,TerriLynne__________________________________________________
Guest guest
Off the top of my head, I'd say make a decoction of one or several of these that you have and use as a mouth rinse, swishing it in the mouth and holding it for several minutes: astragulus ginger mullein red pepper turmeric Do you know what may have caused it? Peace, love, laughter TerriLynne <terri_lynne@...> wrote: Hi all,I could really use some of your ideas here. Guest guest
It would be awesome if the myrhh was made up as a vinegar tincture and used as a mouthwash, especially if you added some cloves and cinnamon. A curendero I know uses that mix a lot on his HIV clients who get dental infections after dental work. Most of the time that takes two weeks to make though. The process could be speeded up by putting the ingrediants in a sealed jar inside a crockpot or a double boiler and letting it simmer gently for a while but that would kill the vinegar and make a less potent product but it would allow one to deliver the myrhh mixture as a mouthwash. You could prepare the same herbs as a decoction but the myrhh only partial dissolves into the water. Total tonic would be perfect. Lacking that she could try holding a garlic clove in her mouth right on the infection site. That might be too much for her as sometimes garlic can burn sensative areas so she's going to have to be responsible if she tries that one. Have her eat lots of garlic also all day long. Lacking garlic do onions. You could mix the myrhh with the slippery elm into lumpy lozengers and have her place them on the infection site and let them sit there. I'ld still have her eat a ton of garlic through the day. Add cayenne to the mix for more effect but ask her how sensative she is to hot stuff before you add too much. Guest guest
if you are refering to cancker sores, i have heard that this might be an c vitamine shortage and stress related problem. i always get cancker sores when i travel and the way i get rid of it is simply with hydroperoxice 3%. it takes some days, but it will get better within a week. just a thought, rik > I guess that she has had an ongoing problem for years. Guest guest
The way it was explained to me is that a decoction is like a tea, only stronger. Rather than letting it steep for 10-15 minutes, you let it steep overnight, then strain. Hope this helps. Peace, love, laughter TerriLynne <terri_lynne@...> wrote: Hi ,I guess that she has had an ongoing problem for years. I'm not sure whatcaused it to flare up this time. Guest guest
Hi all, Well here is what I did. I mixed 1 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp astragulus, 1/2 tsp chickweed, and 1-1/4 tsp slippery elm together. Then I mixed in enough water to turn it into a sticky mass. She will be sleeping with this " yummy " stuff pressed between her cheek and gum. Since I feel sure that this will need to be done more than one day, if you think that I should change anything, let me know. I appreciated the suggestions, but I have never made a tincture, or a vinegar, and felt pretty nervous about trying such a thing. So I hope that my " guess at a formula " combination will be of some use. TerriLynne
