A lot of people on the internet recommend NAC for boosting Glutathione

and aiding the liver, so I went out and got a bottle. Now I read on

this forum that it might not be that good. Could anyone please

explain? Thanks,

Freeman, for some reason my reply didn't come up even though I was

online to post it; maybe the moderator can have a look.

No matter as I had the reference wrong; it's in Dr. Jimmy Gutman's

Glutathione: Your Body's Most Powerful Healing Agent.

To repeat, NAC is rapidly hydrolyzed to free cysteine, which is toxic,

and only a percentage is seen by the liver as NAC. NAC produces

diminishing returns as well as the toxicity so is only used by doctors

to save lives. It's half life is about 4 hours so repeated dosing

through the day every 4 hours is required; the dose would be 1000 mg;

in other words two 500 mg capsules four or five times daily.
