Guest guest
Thanks Helen. If you have no adverse reactions during the next few days, it might be a good idea to increase again by another half grain. Adverse reactions can be palpitations, goiong a bit dizzy, shakiness, feeling 'spaced-out' and generally unwell. This is a sign that your body has the amount of thyroid hormone it needs - especially the T3, and you just need to stop your last increase and go back to the dose you were on previously. As you have been 16 days on your last dose, I doubt you will be getting any adverse reactions with your latest increase. They usually happen pretty soon after you increase the dose. Guest guest
Thanks Sheila, I've upped NAE to 5 and the Armour to 3 yesterday and feeling OK. Swelling in my ankles and legs has gone down and my hormones seem to have settled down too so there's obviously a menopause influence in all this. I'm so grateful for the help and information. Guest guest
Hi everyone, Thank you for the warm welcome to your group. It is very pleasant to be in a group that is loving and kind to each other. I hope you will accept me even though I don't have fibromyalgia. I'm not selling any products or services. I just want to be able to help people once in a while with some information. I'm not a naturopath or an MD. My formal credential is a PhD in engineering. However, my real credential is that I used to be ill with Candidiasis / gut issues. I got interested in Fibromyalgia from talking to many people with Fibromyalgia who also had gut issues. I'd like to make a comment about Nadine's statement: " I don't " pig " out, and I'm even on Synthroid. My doctor tried a stronger dose just to see what would happen, and I gained even more weight! I am beyond discouraged about it. " When you give Synthroid (or T4 thyroid) to a person who is having trouble converting it into T3, you end up suppressing thyroid in those tissues that are not converting it well. Nadine, this could very well be the reason that more Synthroid made you gain weight. What you need is T3, not more T4. In fact, large amounts of T3 is a fairly well known treatment for fibromyalgia. What follows is a short excerpt about this T3 treatment from a free ebook that I wrote on fibromyalgia. People with fibromyalgia often (not always) need a special type of thyroid replacement therapy. Dr. Lowe's patients are sometimes placed on a lot of T3 thyroid combined with a nominal amount of T4 thyroid or a nominal amount of desiccated thyroid. The patients are slowly worked up to relatively high doses of T3 thyroid. Effective dosages of T3 range from 75 µg to 150 µg, whereas normal replacement dosages are from 25 to 75 µg. This much thyroid can be TSH-suppressive. Yet the amount of thyroid is kept below that which would cause thyrotoxicity and muscle weakness. (Both too much and too little thyroid will cause muscle weakness.) This is Dr. Lowe's website: www.DrLowe.com Dr. Lowe is the author of the book Speeding Up to Normal: Metabolic Solutions to Fibromyalgia. Besides using thyroid to improve metabolism, he advocates nutrients, diet modification, exercise and the elimination of narcotic pain medications. These also affect metabolism. Guest guest
I also think its important to remember, that while it is good to be at a healthy weight, what the media portary as an ideal weight isn't really all that realistic. There is some evidence that being slight overweight isn't really all that big of a deal from a health standpoint. Point being, I hope that none of us get to wrapped up in an number (ie weight) and worry more about healthy eating and healthy habits. Guest guest
Yes, you will gain rapidly if you eat alot more than the 500 calories with hCG in your system. Page 52 of Pounds and Inches explains this: "Patients who need to lose 15 pounds (7 kg.) or less require 26 days treatment with 23 daily injections. The extra three days are needed because all patients must continue the 500-Calorie diet for three days after the last injection. This is a very essential part of the treatment, because if they start eating normally as long as there is even a trace of HCG in their body they put on weight alarmingly at the end of the treatment. After three days when all the HCG has been eliminated this does not happen, because the blood is then no longer saturated with food and can thus accommodate an extra influx from the intestines without increasing its volume by retaining water." OR you could be trying to do too much too soon with coconut oil, garlic, clove, probiotics, etc. Let the nutrients do their job for you, rather than trying to push it will taking too many antifungals, and also probiotics will cause more die-off symptoms like nausea. >I do the vco, Garlic in the olives and some clove in my tea > as antifungals. So do not be concerned about weight. It can go up and down. Your body knows what it is doing with the nutrients so concentrate on them, and your body will do its job. Guest guest
Tara, on an all meat and fat diet you can take 3,000 mg of potassium citrate split into doses throughout the day, but also have minimal sea salt, 1/2 tsp. or less, or cut it out completely. But then you will need to get minerals from another source: take ConcenTrace Ionic Liquid Minerals 10-15 drops in water twice a day. When you go on an all meat and fat diet it can change a number of things. I think it is not a good idea, although it can be done. It is much cheaper to get glucose from vegetables rather than from meats and fats. Until you are more tolerant of veggies, start with these: Best food choices (lowest carb count = approximately 3% carbs) asparagus, beet greens, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery, chard, cucumber, endive, lettuce, mustard greens, radish, spinach, tomato, watercress All greens are very low in carbs. Guest guest
Hi, I am confused. I was under the impression that we can live without veg. How do Eskimo's get everything the need without them. I also am not tolerating veg right now (they come out undigested). This all just seems very complicated to me. I do understand that humans have made things very complicated by making our food and environment toxic, but it seems that eating high quality fat and protein and taking the already suggested supplements would be suffice. Life is not supposed to be so complicated! OK, vent over...... Thanks, in NC --- Bee <beeisbuzzing2003@...> wrote: > Tara, on an all meat and fat diet you can take 3,000 > mg of potassium > citrate split into doses throughout the day, but > also have minimal > sea salt, 1/2 tsp. or less, or cut it out > completely. > > But then you will need to get minerals from another > source: take > ConcenTrace Ionic Liquid Minerals 10-15 drops in > water twice a day. > > When you go on an all meat and fat diet it can > change a number of > things. Yes you can live without vegetables, but in areas where they are plentiful it doesn't make sense to spend more money on meats because veggies are cheaper. Eskimos only had certain foods available in their area. Eskimos also didn't consume salt other than what was contained in their foods, which obviously was enough. And they obviously got plenty of minerals too, including potassium. My recommendations for an all meat and fat diet are because I've recommended sea salt and good water for obtaining enough minerals on my usual program and because my usual program has plenty of potassium from veggies to balance out with the salt. I also don't believe the meats and fats we have available to us contain the same high amount or quality of nutrients found in foods the Eskimos had - Dr. Price studied them in the 1930s. Minerals are the building blocks of the body so I want to ensure everyone is getting enough of them, but not too much of any one which would throw off balances and cause problems. If you don't have veggies and yet also have sea salt, the salt will create imbalances, particularly because of lower potassium. It is much better for everyone to stick to my program and not go on an all meat and good fats diet. It certainly would be easier for me in answering questions like yours. LOL! The biggest form of citrate is 99 mg and it turns out it is in my magnesium at that rate ==>No, that is not a typo. Potassium and salt (sodium+chloride) need to be almost equally balanced, and they are both macrominerals, meaning they are required in larger amounts. There are only 7 macrominerals, including calcium, magnesium, sulphur, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and chloride; all of the other minerals are only required in " trace " amounts. ==>The reason potassium supplements are so low is because potassium is prevalent in foods, particularly veggies. I think it is better to eat veggies rather than mess around with taking magnesium, and the other changes necessary. > > > > But then you will need to get minerals from another source: take > > ConcenTrace Ionic Liquid Minerals 10-15 drops in water twice a day. > > *** I like my lemonade > > > > When you go on an all meat and fat diet it can change a number of > > things. Guest guest
Bee -- I think this is excellent advice! Last Thursday and Friday it was around 100 degrees in my neighborhood in SF and I work out my studio at home with no air conditioning. For some reason, my legs, ankles, feet and fingers were swelling up in the heat! I was drinking the electrolyte drink and for the most part, it was too hot to eat much. I had a few slices of meat and a few eggs each day, but not much else. Well, by late Friday afternoon, I could hardly bend my knees, and my husband was telling me I had " Fred Flinstone " feet. Nothing like that has ever happened to me. Then I read on another NT list about being a " salt loser, " and I did a little more research and realized I must be lacking potassium!!! So my husband and I walked down to the Tienda on our block and ordered giant veggie chicken salads, which they fill with chopped vegetables, including radishes, greens and carrots. I also ate about six small bananas (!), and took two magnesium/potassium blend supplements. Within hours the swelling was gone. Amazing!! So you are very right about the salt and the protein/fat ratios. Thanks for all you do here, Bee! Guest guest
> > Hi Bee > > Just wondering if anyone had gained any weight while on this program? It seems I'm stating to gain some weight since starting, could that be from all the coconut oil and all the eggs? ==>Maddy, some people gain while other lose. Weight will fluctuate. If you've had a tendency to be overweight in the past your body will also retrace those episodes during natural healing. Conversely, if you've had a tendency to be underweight your body will also retrace those occurrences. In the end your weight will stabilize to what it should be for you. Coconut oil and good fats in eggs, etc. make a person lose weight, not gain weight. In fact Sally Fallon, Founder of the Weston A. Price Foundation and Enig, world reknown expert on fats, wrote a book called " Eat Fat, Lose Fat " . Carbs and toxins put on weight, not " good " fats. The body puts on fat to store toxins aways from vital inner organs. Bee
Guest guest
Thank you Bee but I SURE HOPE that won't be the case. I was always a heavier person (my heaviest weight was 193 lbs in 2000) then I lost a lot of weight as I had a slight heart attack with elevated choleterol and BL levels and thyroid peoblems. The cardiologist told me if I wanted to stay alive I needed to get active and moving. So I started walking and my weight down significantly. I was for the past 6 months or so weighing 118 in the morning and now I'm up to 122 in only a few days and I'm not eating anymore. I wonder if it could be fluid? Could it be from the sea salt as I eat salt often during the day at work? I sure hope I don't keep putting on weight at that rate as I would have to consider getting off the program; I don't want to be overweight again. thanks Bee God Bless Bee <beeisbuzzing2003@...> wrote: > > Hi Bee > > Just wondering if anyone had gained any weight while on this program? Guest guest
Relax. You'll be just fine. If you're gaining a few pounds, perhaps you needed to. Maybe you were a little too zealous about weight loss or something? I'm a soon-to-be 41 year old male, and I was 153 pounds when I started this diet in December. (Look at my bloated belly in the picture files). I'm eating tons of coconut oil, butter, fat, meat, olive oil, etc... and this morning I weighed 129 pounds when I woke up. My wife has been on the diet the exact same amount of time, yet she still weighs exactly 100 pounds, just like she did on Day One! Go figure... I'm going to post another picture of myself on here exactly one year after the first bloated picture was taken. (In August). Now my belly is absolutely flat ALL DAY and ALL EVENING, and I can't even make it stick out if I try. In the past, even if it was flat in the morning, by evening after supper it was huge. And if I pushed out on it, it would grow even bigger than what you see in the picture. I'm going to have to buy more pairs of shorts with a 29 inch waist, because the 30's are falling off now. I'm going to need to buy a smaller belt too. After the diet, I'll put some weight back on, but as you'll see in the picture I'll post next month, I'm not " too skinny " as I have great muscle tone still. My ideal weight I learned from a health fair in college is 133. If you're going to be on this diet, you're going to have to learn a little patience as your body adjusts. And also avoid the temptation to do " extras " that are not part of the plan that can lead to weight gain and myriads of other problems. I assure you that if you follow Bee's diet and supplements 100% that there is absolutely NO CHANCE that you will gain a significant amount of weight in the long term... or the short term either. Doug I was for the past 6 months or so weighing 118 in the morning and now I'm up to 122 in only a few days and I'm not eating anymore. I wonder if it could be fluid? Could it be from the sea salt as I eat salt often during the day at work? > > I sure hope I don't keep putting on weight at that rate as I would have to consider getting off the program; I don't want to be overweight again. > > thanks Bee > God Bless >
If you are having ocean sea salt it wouldn't cause any fluid problems; it helps them! See article about Sea Salt on my website. > > I sure hope I don't keep putting on weight at that rate as I would have to consider getting off the program; I don't want to be overweight again. ==>When you are unhealthy you have much bigger issues than weight, and weight will normalize. Would you prefer to be slim and unhealthy? Bee

Me, too, Steph..that's what kept me from actually upping my iodine in the first place and you, thankfully, convinced me it was a symptom of bromidism. Do you take Armour? Can you up your dose a bit until you adjust to 125mg? I find that when I stop detoxing at a certain dose the weight issue goes away. Do you mean by the fat issue that the body tries to cling to fat to ease the detox? I didn't understand that part of your post. I just assumed the weight issue had to do with iodine's initial action on the thyroid. Thanks. BarbF New MapQuest Local shows what's happening at your destination. Dining, Movies, Events, News more. Guest guest
I am having issues with weight now that I increased to 125 mgs from 100 mg. The idea is that your body uses fat to buffer the toxins that your liver and kidney cannot pull out (ie they are overloaded). I have started taking my Metagenics Ultra Clear Plus (yesterday) again so we will see if that helps. I am also supposed to do salt loads, alkaline diet, dead sea salt baths and coffee enemas. Hope that helps. Guest guest
Hello. I was about to write the same thing. I am a lurker, have been reading this forum for a few months and, with a past of " normal " SAD diet, I think my thyroid is not up to snuff. I had a test run years ago since I couldn't seem to lose weight through regular dieting that placed me at the very low end of " normal " but since it was " normal " my doc didn't do anything about it. Anyway, I have in the last year dropped 70 pounds to a very healthy 112-115# on a 5'1 " frame, 44-year-old female. I eat a med/high fat/high protein/low carb diet staying around my suggested calorie range, eat no processed foods, no prescriptions, no sugar/wheat/gluten/starch/bread, etc. I've been maintaining for several months now. A couple of weeks ago I started Iodoral at 25mg a day and have gained. I got up to 121# last week and about to died! Nothing else has changed but adding the Iodoral. I drink up to a gallon of water and green tea a day (minimum half a gallon) so I don't think it's water retention. It's not menstruation-related either. I feel very " bloaty " and the weight is all in my stomach area (i.e., all my waistbands are very tight on me). I read what bromide detox was and maybe that is what it is, but I don't really have the symptoms. I am back down to 117.6 but that is still about 5# over where I should be. Should I quit the Iodoral, change the dose, or just give it more time? I am miserable-fat feeling and don't know what to do. Thank you.
