Guest guest
Stevia as has no calories or carbs and is safe for hypoglycemics--sp and diabetics, seems safe to me. I use it regularly but very sparingly as the bottle I bought has trace amounts of alcohol in it. (Alcohol turns to sugar in our systems..) If you want stevia as a sweetener on its own and not as added to something else, my daughter tells me she has found a stevia that has no alcohol but is mixed with glycerin.. Guest guest
Louise, thanks for the input. How about the marshmellow root? As it turns out that fiber concoction caused me bloating so I will not use it. I am thinking my psyllium is causing chronic leg stiffness and I am looking for a soluble/insoluble fiber to help me with bowel issues. i gave up the inulin since I read about the klebsiella issues. I found out that the maker of alot of fiber concoctions represented at Whole Foods says she avoids using psyllium because so many people are allergic to it. Guest guest
I would most likely agree with you Doug, the fiber is an issue with your problem. Psyllium is not good to take for a digestive issue. Have you looked at www.fibermenace.com? He explains this well. Guest guest
Wil, what exactly does he say about fiber. I'm not being rude but with all his ideas about constipation I am not up to listening to his whole essay. The psyllium works well for me, and I'm not sure my problem comes from the psyllium, I am going to have to do an elimination of various substances I am taking to find out. I have had stiffness in my lower legs for 1-2 months and don't know if it is arthritis from winter or something I am consuming. Since the psyllium works better than anything so far, I probably will be looking for something similar. I'm getting ready to check the web for other's side effects of psyllium. Guest guest
Wil, I checked with " web side effects " . I see that it can lower blood sugar. I am either pre-diabetic or insulin resistant and so that would affect me. I have noticed that my finger tips were unsusually numb and white this winter so that could be the psyllium. Also, in diabetes one's tendons can be negatively affected causing a thickening effect. While I don't think I have permanent change to my tendons in 2 months, again, it may be a blood sugar effect( low blood sugar) which is causing my lower legs, principally my achilles tendons to be chronically tight. I will try being off of the psyllium for a week and hope to find a substitute soon.
