Guest guest
I am just getting started with eating raw and wanted to know what others who've been at this for awhile do to discipline your mind to " stick to the program. " I have eaten healthfully for a few years now, but I really want to take things to the next level and go at least 75% raw with my diet over the next 6 months. I have the desire, the time and the cash (mostly) to invest in learning about and eating living foods. What I don't always have is the discipline to resist that cup of coffee in the morning or that hunk of cheese at snack time. If anyone has any techniques, meditation ideas or mind games (LOL!) that help them with temptations, please share. Grateful for this list, Rose
Guest guest
Hi Rose. I may not have any "mental excercises" but can share what motivated me. Some time ago, several years ago, I came down with liver disease, my gall bladder, spleen and pancreas were also effected due to a mis-diagnoses by a "clinic Dr." and a lethal set of perscriptions(he has since left practice due to too many of his patients dying or coming close to it, and while on Medi-Cal, one cannot sue for malpractice). I came very close to dying several times, even being told by the doctors to make sure my life insurance was paid up and that my will was up to date. At first, after getting off of the meds, I used only herbs to bolster my system. This helped to small degree, but I was still very sick. I changed to a mostly vegitarian diet, still ate cooked foods. Some change for the better, but still sick a lot. About 1-2 years ago, I went completely raw vegan. No cooked anything. Everything as organic as finances would allow. Raw veggies, raw fruit, sprouts, nuts (small amounts). Total herbavore. It was very hard on me, and at times I still get the "craving". I usually break down a couple of times a year and have beef (sirloin, organic), but I can only eat it raw. Cooked turns my stomach. Even the doctors I saw after my one bad doctor was taken off of my case say my progress is "miraculous" (and I do believe in supernatural healing miracles, by the way). They chalk it up to their advice and such. I finally had to tell them that I never had their perscriptions filled, never ate the AHA diet they advised. They even told me at one point to stop with the herbs. They were "too dangerous". HA!!!!! There are natural alternatives to coffee. Hot herbal tea in the morning, depending on the type, can be just as satisfying. And in our archives I am sure if you type in the search word "cheese" you will find a whole plethora of alternative "cheese" recipes, many of which are quite good! We have a wonderful support group here. Don't hesitate to use it! Lots of prayers and positive energy! Anyway, hope this helps. Guest guest
Thank you, . Your story is a remarkable testimony to the body's power to heal if fed right! And, sadly, an all too common example of how traditional medicine fails us. So glad to hear that you are doing so well now!I had a mega migraine yesterday and it was a blessing in disguise because it forced me to rest and to think on my health goals. It also forced me to drink nothing but water for 24 hours. No coffee for 2 days. Tomorrow I will start with juice. I hope to find time to meditate at least a few times a week. Did some of that yesterday while I was down with the migraine and it certainly helped me calm the headache a bit.RoseOn Oct 17, 2005, at 4:08 PM, wrote: Hi Rose. Guest guest
You are very welcome Rose! I truly believe that we are all made/created in a manner that is self repairing, self maintaining, made to last for vast, unknown amounts of time. But we have the responsibility of finding our path (which may or may not be similar to anothers), and travelling that path to the best of our abilities. I plan on being around for a long LONG time! Guest guest
I've found that with my migraines, when Organic Iron doesn't work, sometimes (not all the time) cayenne tincture might work.
