Hey Barbara -- yup, the subject of which eo's to use on the skin can be a

complicated one. But, Sandalwood should be fine to put in a lotion bar.

Something to remember is that many citrus EO's, while smelling wonderful, can

also cause a sensitivity to sunlight, causing the wearer to sunburn very

easily (did I say that right?). There are lots of good books regarding EO's

& aromatherapy. Definately get yourself familiar with them - lots of

information AND cautions!

I too am interested in what true Eastern Sandalwood smells like. I have

smelled some that smells so good

not really floral , but an undertone of spice.

Hi the nearest description I can give for the true sandalwood is really woody

and resinous just as wood that is being sawn when first cut. most trees give

off a strong scent when sawn new but it dies later when the wood is dry. I have

never smelled a sandal wood that is floral in any way. in Indonesia the market

places smell strongly of sandalwood from the resins carved figures and powder

for incense burning

Edna, I was on a serious sandalwood hunt for awhile, too. I even got samples

from people to check out. At that time, I ended up getting a nice one from

Wildwood, but I don't think she's doing co-ops anymore. Sweetcakes has a great

one, but at a " first born " price. Judy from Country Club Soaps said she had

WixnWax make a great dupe for her, but It'll be awhile before I need more, so I

haven't tried it to agree or disagree. I did get a Cheap Thrill vial from

Southern Soapers not too long ago, called Red Santal, that is really nice. I

wouldn't say it's an exact dupe, but it is close, and very nice. I think I

could sniff it all day. Her coupon expires on Wed., too. :-)

Does anyone know of a vendor who sells a good quality sandalwood that I don't

have to sell my first-born to pay for? Note: No one could afford to feed him

anyway -- LOL!
