I also have severe obstructive sleep apnea and am on cpap. If the legs don't settle down, I cannot sleep and the machine can't work. I would appreciate any help at all. Guest guest
In the beginning I was taking prescription medications. I have taken mirapex, neurontin, Klonopin, requip and darvocet. After reading a post on this site and someone raving about 5-HTP I decided to try it. I have not been well enough to exercise (which didn't help anyway), haven't gotten out much even to walk. (That didn't help either when I was doing it). I am in the process now of increasing raw foods and decreasing cooked. I am weaning off caffeine (morning only at this point) and junk food. I am not heating a meal at supper. Instead I have a banana. the only dairy I do is aged cheese. mary What are you doing different now as to then? Exercising, walking, eating different?? Working? ... Guest guest
, It sounds like you're heading in a good direction.. however, (isn't that always the way...lol) however, your body is in need, (desparate need) of some cleansing... how about doing some juice fasts?? preferably greens, or apple/carrot? You have alot of toxins, or toxic meds that need to be gotten rid of.. which will help your body to help itself.. Also, some detox baths would be good. Guest guest
Well, I could definitely do apple / carrot for sure. I have had RLS for many years and am trying to get off the meds and onto natural methods of dealing with it. I have been on a lot of meds for fibromyalgia over the years and am weaning myself off those too and adding supplements like magnesium. I have now eliminated 4 meds. mary , It sounds like you're heading in a good direction.. however, (isn't that always the way...lol) however, your body is in need, (desparate need) of some cleansing... how about doing some juice fasts?? preferably greens, or apple/carrot? Guest guest
Good Girl!!!!! Try some fasting... even if you start with one day and next week try 2-3 days... then every other week or once a month... your body will thank you as it will be able to start helping in the healing process. Guest guest
I may have missed the whole of this topic, but I thought I would try anyway =0) I don't know what it is,natural or prescription{I'm being careful here lol} They had my Mother on Quinine for this. Also for people with charlie horses, she used to take about a tsp. of salt and it went away fast. I think I would wonder about your calcium intake also? I take a coke, glass bottle and roll my arch on it as an exercise, because I notice this helps me from getting RLS. I hope this was helpful and I didn't screw up again IF this isn't a natural substance! Karly =0)
Guest guest
Hi , Sorry I was bouncing and missed this message as well as most of the responses. I'm sure you have already had some great advice. I can't speak to you condition but for me I have these occasionally and they come in two levels. For the ones that are worse I take a bottle of water and throw in about 1/16 tsp of real salt then I strech the legs muslces out. For the milder ones I just strech the muscles out. Guest guest
Quinine in Tonic water is not strong enough to help and most doctors won't prescribe it in pill form. m I may have missed the whole of this topic, but I thought I would try anyway =0) I don't know what it is,natural or prescription{I'm being careful here lol} They had my Mother on Quinine for this. Guest guest
Hi I'm not actually sure what restless leg syndrome is but if it has anything to do with leg or foot cramps then since you can't get quinine anymore, try to find Magnesium with cramp bark in it. I get the Microgenics brand here in Australia and it stops all the cramps. I used to be on quinine till our government stopped the supply because it was "dangerous". My doctor suggested taking the tonic water but it wasn't enough. I found the magnesium with cramp bark on my own through my health food shop. Supplies your magnesium intake as well as alleviating cramps all through the body. If I forget to take it at least every 3 or 4 I soon get the cramps back If you can't get it in USA try Googling for Cramp bark and you might find some other supplement with that in. Cheers, Jen
Guest guest
Also Jen, drinking more water helps to stop leg cramps. Keep a glass at your bedside and try it.
