Guest guest
Al, My puter froze up as your msg was coming in and I had to go to web site to read msgs and reply. Msgs. on Maca have been posted at Alt- Support-Impotence-ASI/ and not here at hypogonadism.... Posts I've read have all been positive. Powder is so inexpensive...$25 for a pound and I calibrated this morning 1000 mg = 1/4th tsp. After I've been on Maca a couple of weeks I'll report back.. Guest guest
Steph, This is a rather comprehensive article on Maca. http://health.discovery.com/centers/sex/libido/maca.html These are two commercial vendors from whom I ordered bulk Maca on 2-28-03. Shipment from Rain-tree arrived...I've begun supplementing with two grams/dy...see how this works. From what I've read you cannot really overdose on Maca. Peruvians consider it a food and not a supplement. http://www.ahealthya.com/free_sample.htm http://www.rain-tree.com/maca.htm Hope this helps... Guest guest
tallen2_34, Thanks for finding that article and posting it. I'm going to carpetbag it to several groups to which I belong, of course acknowledginng your initial posting here. I would like to suggest to you that you consider putting it in our files section....I've created a folder " My Maca Supplementaion Data " . I'm going to change that to a Folder " Maca " to which I will add files on my b/p values, vendors, etc. OR eon GayMan > Maca > > Found these abstracts (I find it weird that it increased sperm > production without impacting LH, FSH, prolactin, T or E2....I wonder > what the mechansim is....): > > LEffect of Lepidium meyenii (MACA) on sexual desire and its absent > relationship with serum testosterone levels in adult healthy men. > > GF, Cordova A, Vega K, Chung A, Villena A, Gonez C, Castillo > S. > > Instituto de Investigaciones de la Altura, Universidad Peruana > Cayetano Heredia, Lima, Peru. iiad@u... > > This study was a 12-week double blind placebo-controlled, randomized, > parallel trial in which active treatment with different doses of Maca > Gelatinizada was compared with placebo. Guest guest
WHAT EXACTLY IS MACA ROOT? Maca is a root that grows in the high mountains of Peru. Rich in nutritional content (potassium, and higher levels of calcium than in milk), maca is a natural hormonal balancer which provides great health benefits for both, men and women. Due to its high nutritional value, maca is not only popular as a sexual libido enhancer and menopause symptoms savior, but also greatly affects energy, stamina, depression, memory, and more. As Beth M. Ley, Ph.D. states on her book Maca Adaptogen & Hormonal Regulator: "Some researchers note than when the body is well-nourished and balanced (in homeostasis), overall health improves, libido rises and depression abates." pg. 15 (Handbook available here!) WHAT WILL MACA DO FOR YOU? Maca: Sex & Libido Maca is recommended for fertility problems, sterility, and other sexual disorders. However, in Peru maca has long been known as a potent APHRODISIAC. Research has proven maca to act on certain areas of the body that produce hormones and energizing substances, which enhance libido and increase virility. Maca is often compared to Viagra®; however, Peruvian maca does not alter circulation. Maca's amazing libido booster is a result of completely natural hormonal balancing. Maca is a safe natural product that will improve your marriage, love and sexual life by boosting your libido and stamina, and by producing a general sense of well being!. Maca: Energy/Stamina Athletes around the world are starting to notice maca root. Maca is in fact, a great source of energy. Research proves that as a result of hormonal balancing maca also supports and helps restore the adrenal glands, which produce adrenaline . So, if you are looking for a healthy and nutritional product to boost your energy and improve endurance, maca is definitely for you!. Maca: Menopause Symptoms Are you going through uncomfortable mood swings and frustrating hot flashes? Are you having sleep difficulties? Maca is a natural and healthy alternative to dramatically ease your symptoms during peri-menopause, menopause, and post-menopause. Low or High levels of estrogen are a common problem to many women, which bring frustrating consequences to their health. Maca root will dramatically fix these problems. Maca acts as a hormonal regulator that will bring your body to its proper balance. As a result, maca will alleviate menopausal and painful menstrual symptoms. What's more, maca will increase your energy, reduce your stress, and even help you overcome depression. Get rid of hot flashes now! You won't be disappointed; all maca benefits are achieved in a very healthy way, and are only a result of natural hormonal balancing.
