Guest guest
Have you written down your goals? Make them specific and with dates: " I am x% BF by November x, 2003. " And also make some with the correct visual: " I get up early and do my exercises because I feel GREAT afterwards! " " I eat clean. " (I got that one from Sunshine on this board.) Sounds silly, but if you write them down on a little card and carry them with you, it will be like a constant reminder. I say my goals to myself morning and evening (just before bed) and anytime I think I need it. I even put them on my computer's desktop image...in my face! LOL I like to think of my " lazy " side as the little devil on my shoulder, whispering in my ear. When I start to hear it, I think, " Ok, that's the bad guy talking. Let's ignore that! " Sometimes though it's hard. Having support at home also helps. Just this morning (on my last day for C2!) I woke up and said to my 10yr old daughter, " Should I work out this morning or take this last day off? " I was thinking since I have to start C3 tomorrow, maybe I'd take a break. My daughter promptly said, " Do you want to change or do you want to stay the way you are? " Wow! That got me out of bed pretty darn quick!! A LOT of BFL is your mental attitude. If you WANT to do it bad enough, you'll do it! HTH, Marie > i have been so lazy lately i need to start excerising again my > eating is bad but i want to get excerising as a habit any tips on > how to restart? please tips? i own the bfl book adn journal jsut > cant seem to start? Guest guest
Much thanks Manjula for the encouraging words, but its our responsibility as physycians to provide the right advice, sometimes sounds hearting but always meant to provide comfort. even if the comfort comes latter when confidence has been built through empathetic words. manjula datta <manjulad@...> wrote: Dr. ,What an extroadinarily insightful and beautifulletter. Guest guest
Lila, Maybe if we all contributed in telling you what we do for a living, it may help you to know that we don't let people get in our way when it comes to what we do in our lives. Lila, I for one worked for the United States Navy, I worked for The Department Of Defense with the Trident Submarine Program, as a Engineering Technician. I started out as a Draftsman and Illustrator for the Trident Refit Facility Command, and ended a 17 year career with the Navy in Civil Service because of my back and stenosis problems. So Lila, your Grandson can do what he wants to now days, even if people discourage him, he can do it. Only if he wants to dig ditches for a living would I discourage him, as his back physically isn't meant for such tasks. But we have Pilots, Semi Truck Drivers, Computer Programmers, Television Technicians, Engineers from Nuclear to Electrical, Doctors, Surgeons, Lawyers, Nurses, Teachers, Professors, Judges, Automotive Mechanics, Aircraft Mechanics, Machinist in Automotive and Aircraft industries, there is any and all fields that we are in. I personally was a Scout Leader and Committee Chairman for both a Cub Scout Pack and Scout Troop, when I was 19, I rode dirt trails in Southern Illinois on my motorcycle, which my parents said I never could do. I use to Drag Race in cars that I bought, worked on, and raced, something that others were surprised that I could do for my stature, wonder where they got that stupid idea. I personally have done things in my life so far that most are shocked that I could do, yet most of them have done the same thing, gee, I'm amazed idiots like that have achieved anything with such narrow mindedness, lol. But let your grandson do what he wants to do, and encourage him, like you would do for your other grandchildren, because if you aren't, then you are as narrow-minded as those shocked idiots that rule the world, and most of them are questionable. So open your mind up, and encourage him, let him be the one to find out what he can and can't do, rather than hear no all of his life, OK. Guest guest
Studies show that transmission through birth, though possible, are very infrequent. I suspect that if there were a further study there was probably some wound on the infant that was exposed to the mother's blood. I think the placenta is a very efficient filter to keep the viruses out. Maybe some company should try to determine the filter part of the placenta and make condoms and other protective products with it? I also had HCV when my children were born, they are in their 30s now, and no virus. I send strength and support to your mother at this difficult time. If she has internet refer her to some sites and email lists for support. It keeps the sanity. Guest guest
There is less than a 5% chance that you got this from your mother at birth. That means there is a 95% chance that you did not get it. Both my boys are clear and I had it before I had them. If you are 25 you probably would have known by now. Are you sure you weren't checked when you got pregnant? My daughter-in-law was checked in California as soon as she became pregnant. Most babies carry their mom's antibodies for approximately a year but as I said, only 5% actually have the disease. Get tested to put your mind at ease. Guest guest
no, not even, four years since steve died Re: PLEASE HELP ME Maybe you should have a physical. I'd think the swollen lymph node on your groin might be because of an STD. Have you had unprotected sex lately? There could be a lot of thing going on here. I think the thyroid suggestion might be correct too. Topomax is an anti-psychotic isn't it? So they give this for Bipolar now?
Guest guest
nope, this " doctor " said he didnt feel anything, and I told well its not hanging out like a testicle, its inside, way inside, I dont know what he was barely touching me for when I already told him that at first I thought it was appendicitis Re: PLEASE HELP ME Are they doing anything about the groin growth at all? Guest guest
Don't know about the pain on your right side - have you had an ultrasound done to rule out everything. I had pain on my right side turned out to be an ovarian cyst but on top of it, my flopian tube didn't develop right and wrapped around my ovary. The rest of your symptoms sound like hypothyroidism. Have they ran these tests TSH, Free t3, free t4, the total t4 & t3, thyroid antibodies (TPO and antithyroglubulin). Have they checked your ferritin levels to see if they are low or in the lower range, vitamin D and B12 deficiency's. Anxiety and panic attacks are related to your adrenals. But most dtrs don't treat fatigued adrenals, I recommend there an adrenal support supplement you can get at the vitamin shops and health food stores. If you want to talk more off list you can feel free to email me. I suffer from hypothyroid, I managed to get off the anti-depressants. I also suffer with low ferritin and also vitamin D defiencency's and fatigued adrenals. I feel your pain. hugs Micki Health Eating and Living Together he2gether_/ My brother's online store check it out <http://mcgregorgifts.ecrater.com/> http://mcgregorgifts.ecrater.com/ <http://mcgregorgifts.ecrater.com/> _____ From: SSRI medications [mailto:SSRI medications ] On Behalf Of Alessandra Fissinger Sent: Wednesday, October 31, 2007 1:45 PM SSRI medications Subject: PLEASE HELP ME I just got back from an appointment with a doctor, after giving him this list of complaints, he determined that I have bipolar and need to start taking topamax immediatly, (dopamax, like I really need something to make me more stupid and retarded) and because my severe phobia about needles caused an anxiety attack during getting my blood drawn they almost seemed like they were going to have me committed ____ I have what feels like a golfball growing in my groin on the right side, that causes very severe crippling pain, many months ago I thought I was having appendicitis but was too terrified to go to the hospital ____ I am gaining weight inappropriately ____ I'm unable to lose weight with diet/exercise ____ I am constipated, sometimes severely ____ I am much to sensitive to hot and cold tempuratures, hot makes me so sick I cant move, and cold is so painful it makes me cry ____ I feel extremely fatigued, exhausted, especially as soon as I wakeup ____ Feeling run down, sluggish, lethargic ____ My hair is coarse and dry, breaking, brittle, falling out ____ My fingernails are brittle and breaking/splitting way down and painful ____ My eyes are very sore, sticky, burn, itch, feel like they are melting ____ My skin is coarse, dry, scaly, and creepy, severe itching that scratching does not relieve, almost like bugs crawling all over me, I have to scratch with a stiff brush or sometimes a fork ____ I have a hoarse or gravely voice, difficulty swallowing, choking fits, dry mouth, halitosis, and a popping in my left jaw ____ I have puffiness and swelling around the eyes and face, my face is so puffed up and squishy I am unrecognizable ____ I have pains everywhere, aches in joints, hands and feet, my muscles are so painful but I dont get enough exercise because it hurts ____ I have developed carpal-tunnel syndrome, and it's getting worse ____ I am having irregular menstrual cycles (longer, or heavier, or more frequent) October 1st lasted ten days, labor pains, very heavy, huge clots, October 13th lasted at least a week, very heavy, extremely painful, huge clots, first couple days of each period I have to use serenity pads because menstual pads arent enough, and my back hurts so bad I cant even walk, and I suspect I'll get it again halloween ____ I feel so depressed I feel like I cant breathe ____ I have feelings of worthlessness, hopelessness, horrible mood all of the time, feel completely devastated ____ I have difficulty concentrating ____ I have no interest in normal daily activities, rarely leave my apartment ____ I'm very forgetful lately ____ My hair is falling out ____ I can't seem to remember things ____ I have no sex drive ____ I feel shortness of breath and tightness in the chest ____ I feel the need to yawn to get oxygen ____ My eyes feel gritty and dry ____ My eyes feel sensitive to light ____ My eyes get jumpy/tics in eyes, which makes me dizzy/vertigo and have headaches ____ I have strange feelings in neck or throat ____ I have tinnitus (ringing in ears) ____ I get recurrent sinus infections ____ I have vertigo, and always feel like I am falling over to the right ____ I feel a lot of lightheadedness, I always feel like I am passing out ____ I have very severe menstrual cramps

Guest guest
I know it's hard but try not to panic. Many people have odd symptoms and are dismissed by doctors for years even(ever seen that t.v. show Diagnosis X?? one poor woman with Lymes was dismissed and misdiagnosed for 9 years.) You didn't mention what meds you are currently on. Are you on anything other than the Topomax? Try and eat as best as you can and exercise as much as possible and take it one day at a time.
