Guest guest
Okay, I've officially entered the realm of doddering old lady and I'm not happy!! Today I took Ziggy for a walk and coming back we were on very coarse, sharp gravel and he was walking in the grass. I was on the gravel. A truck was parked ahead so I thought I would just move onto the grass with the dog - zap, bang, boom! I was on the ground in the gravel. I had stepped wrong on a piece and my ankle just went on over (I've done this many times in the last 10 years or so) and I went down. Not wanting to be seen laying there I jumped up rather quickly and just started walking again - in pain. I did not stop to check injuries until a couple blocks away. Heaven forbid someone would think I was actually hurt and offer assistance! My ego forbids weakness, you know. Anyway, my right pant leg has a nice hole in it and my leg has many bloody holes where I landed on the rocks. Also just to the right of my shin is what took the brunt of my landing and is quite swollen and my muscle hurts to flex my foot back and forth. I have some MSM cream and a remedy kit which I know has arnica in it. In fact I think there is arnica in the cream as well. I also have some calendula cream made by a naturopath friend. Any other suggestions? I iced the swelling and kept it up for about a half hour and will go do it again. I have a class to teach on Saturday and it is in the kitchen. I generally end up standing for anywhere from 10 - 12 hours that day! Between prep work and actual class it works out to be that much. Not to mention I need to clean the house and shop before Saturday!! Guess my higher power is telling me to slow down? Can't get much slower than I have been the last few weeks. Can hardly wait to talk to my intuitive on the 19th. I'm sure she'll be able to shed some light on what's happening. Thanks to anyone who can add anything to my remedy ideas -- Shari
Guest guest
You can try the green poultice I posted recently or if you can get taro root, grate 4 parts peeled taro root, 1 part unpeeled ginger and mix together. Add enough white flour to bind it together. Put it about 1/2 inch thick on the hurt area, cover with a cloth, leave for 2 hours and then replace with a fresh poultice for another 2 hours. Or leave overnight. Do not handle the poultice after you take it off. Just throw it away and wash your hands. You can do this every day as needed. It will draw out toxins and increase circulation. Guest guest
I like homeopathic arnica orally much more than I like the homeopathic cream but it worked for you so great. If it swells back up and hurt you could do willow. Comfrey is on my list of sprainy/inflammed booboo treatments too but sounds like you've got things under control. Guest guest
Thanks for the info that oral is sometimes better than the cream. I just went with the cream because I could put it where it hurt the most and in my head that seemed right. Never could figure out how a pill could get to where it was needed. But I will remember that for any crashes in the future. On that note, crashes, would arnica orally be indicated for skiing crashes? I usually bomb out at least a couple of times a day and at 55 I don't seem to recover as quickly, especially the long drive home! By the time I sit in the car for a couple of hours after a day of skiing I'm really stiff and sore. Maybe if I took it just after leaving the hill I could stave off some of the sore/stiffness? Just something rolling around in my brain this morning. Thanks, Shari
Guest guest
Try an epsom salt bath. Do you have any MSM you can take orally? Try alternating hot/cold packs 3 times each for 10 minutes each... Suzi SV <shavig@...> wrote: Okay, I've officially entered the realm of doddering old lady and I'm not happy!! Guest guest
Thanks Suzanne - I'm already up and showered! I did the cold pack in the afternoon and the cream before bed. This morning I popped out of bed at 4 a.m. and the leg is just a little sore. Of course the scabs are there and a tad bit of swelling, but no bruising - yet. I'll have to tell you sometime what Natural Hygiene has to say about hot and cold. And of course they say not to do it, but I don't have time to dig out the article. Later. I'm on my way to the grocery store. I have a class on Saturday. We're making rawsagne and gazpacho among other things. Happy Thursday to all - Shari
Guest guest
Both would help your "crashes".... Try some dmso with that cream and really get it to where it needs to be.. Guest guest
You know I have tripped on my garage step. I did go to chiro for about 2 months and all better without surgery. It was badly torn ligaments. Feel well and hoping for speedy recovery For class, maybe hubby can prepare the food in advance, as does, then speak and have perhaps some classmates get into the hands on portion as you sit it out. Take care. carolSV <shavig@...> wrote: Okay, I've officially entered the realm of doddering old lady and I'm not happy!!
