Guest guest
Hey Everyone, So I have been endlessly searching for some clarity on Candida testing. I am in a unique position in that I dont really live close to a Naturopath so I am trying to figure this out by a home test kit. I have called allot of naturophaths to get the scoop but they all say something different.Through all my searching this is what I have come up with below, can anyone clarify? Test 1. - Online Questionaire: Its about 40 questions, some of them include craving carbs, sleepiness, dizzy, fatigue.... In my experience this could be anything from depression to an auto immune disease. So I really dont think this is going to give you the results you need. Test 2. Saliva Ive read this will only tell you a little piece of the candida puzzle. Its one way to dectect if a portion of your body has candida but its not a reliable whole body assesment. Test 3. Blood I think they are looking for something called IgG with this test. This will tell if the Candida is releasing a toxin in your blood, pretty accurate but you could till have Candida in your organs that the IgG test isnt going to detect. I found a good home test called Candia5, can be shipped from AU retail about 32.00USD. Im sure there are are ton of lab tests a doctor can order as well. Test 4. Urine The 3 other things that they look for is yeast, IgA and IgM. I dont know if IgA or IgM is detected by the urine. Apparenty one urine test is called the OAT (Organic Acid Test). It measures toxitities and yeast in the urine amoung other things. A well known lab (Metametrix) does the OAT test, must be ordered by a physician. Test 5. Stool Again not sure if this is looking for IgA or IgM. Ive read that stool tests can often miss yeast, but detects other things that may reveal candida. I believe the test is called a PCR also conducted by Metametrix which gives you a GI effects microbial profile. I have read that a Naturopath will Co-ordinate these findings with signs and symptoms, past health history, history of antibiotics use, and any results experienced when doing a candida cleanse or anticandida products. They will then try to weed out the cause and treatment for you. So with all that said what is the best test or tests one should do. When I asked a bunch of Naturopaths allot of them only do 1 or 2 of the 5. But it seemed to be over all over the board. One specialist I talked to said blood, stool and urine was the only way to go if you want to test the whole body and know for sure. I need home testing kits because my regular doctors think Candida is a joke and im not close to a Naturopath. So I am on the hunt for home tests that will give me the info I need. So far I could only find a blood one called Candia5. Are their home urine tests? Probably not stool. In your guys opinion is blood enough?
