Coming into "Right Relationship" with your Food thru Fasting

In today's America, 65% of the population is either overweight (10 to 30 lbs. over a healthy weight) or obese (30 or more pounds overweight). In fact, America is the sickest and fatest nation in the industrialized world. America leads the World in the "Diseases of affluence" ie. Heart disease, Cancer, Diabetes, and of course Obesity. We can not truly be healthy and be overweight, as disease and obesity go hand in hand. Overeating is a national epidemic used to suppress our feelings and our awareness.

The refrigerator has become our favorite way to cope with the stress of our fast paced way of living. An overfed over-weight body cannot fully digest and absorb or eliminate the waste of an overburdened digestive system. This is why overweight people are literally starving to death, drowning in undigested putrefactive gases and toxins. It is obvious why so many feel tired and exhausted. Of course eating whole natural organic Vegetarian Raw food is far healthierthan dead devitalized pesticide and toxic laden food of the SAD. (STANDARD AMERICAN DIET)

Even the best foods become acid forming and burden our liver and our digestive and eliminative organs when eaten in excess of our needs. If we constantly overeat, we stretch out the stomach and intestines, overworking every digestive and eliminative organ. We feel we need more and more food to feel fulfilled. Not only do we overeat, but we eat too many times daily, never giving the digestive system time to fully digest and process the previous meal. Rest is the most neglected therapy in America today! In ancient times rest was a normal cycle that occurred when food was not available.

In response to this "battle of the bulge", countless reducing diets have been created and popularized. Most of them are hard to follow and promise to take pounds off, but only at the high price of ruining your health. The high-protein, high fat animal or dairy food diets for example, cause such severe auto-toxemia, acidosis and metabolic and biochemical imbalance in the system that you begin to lose weight by getting sick. Let's face it, the only sensible and safe way to reduce is to eat less and to eat health-promoting foods. Few have the discipline and will to systematically under eat. Systematic under eating will not only keep you slim, but also improve your health. Anyone who has tried to cut down the amount of food they eat knows just how hard that can be.

In my experience, it is a lot easier and healthful to give the digestive system a much needed rest and totally abstain from food. Fasting as it is called, is the oldest and most effective way to lose weight and regain our health. Before the "Medicine Man" or the Healing Arts, man instinctively stopped eating when feeling ill or until health was restored. Man learned fasting from watching nature and the animals in the wild. Fasting is the oldest theraputic system of attaining superior physical, emotional, mental and Spiritual health known. It is the fastest and most effective way to cleanse and detoxify the pounds of excess mucus stored away in the tissues and organs of the body.

Hippocrates "the Father of Medicine" prescribed Fasting along with Plato and Socrates. The ancient prophets and saints, including Moses, Jesus ,Buddha, Mohammed and the Great Yogi's of India (just to name a few) all Fasted for the attainment of higher knowledge and Wisdom. While modern man is not quite ready to jump into a 40-day water fast, most of us can safely use scientific Juice Fasting. Juice Fasting is the fastest and safest way to reduce! On the average, you lose 1 pound a day. A 14 day fast will take off 14 lbs. A periodic Juice Fast of at least 10 to 14 days are recommended four times a year in rhythm with the seasonal changes of our Earth. Giving yourself and your digestion a rest by fasting is the greatest Life insurance no money can buy. Not only will you safely lose extra weight, you will become younger and regain your vitality and joy for living.

After a fast, we regain our senses and can better taste, smell, see and hear our food and life. We become attuned to the optimal amount and frequency to nourish our beings. Food becomes a celebration and a simple act of eating. As we free ourselves from the slavery in the kitchen, we start to remember that eating is only part of life.
