Guest guest
It may be a reaction to phenols. I've read that tomatoes are a high phenol food. You could probably learn more by doing a google search. -KIM [ ] TOMATOES > THIS MAY SOUND WEIRD BUT I WAS JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE NOTICED A > DIFFERENCE IN THEIR CHILDS BEHAVIOR AFTER EATING TOMATOES?I ONCE READ > AN ARTICLE OR SOMETHING LIKE A DIET FOR HYPERACTIVE CHILDREN CANT > REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT. Guest guest
Tomatoes, potatoes and peppers all belong to the same plant family. Some people with arthritis and similar diseases have found that they have delayed immune reactions to this plant family. They are not immediate, IgE mediated allergic reactions but the delayed sort. That could conceivably be happening to your son as well. Some of these delayed reactions show up on ELISA/ACT blood tests developed by Jaffe, M.D., Ph.D., and performed by Serammune Physicians Lab (SPL), of Reston, Virginia; however, the tests are expensive and are not usually covered by insurance. I have found them useful in controlling some of my own symptoms but I don't think they are necessary for everybody. Careful documentation of reactions whether immediate or delayed is the most widely accepted method of documenting food sensitivities. That is what you did. BTW, it is not uncommon for people to develop sensitivities to things they like almost to the point of addiction. Peace, Kathy E. Guest guest
thank you frank ! isearched the site you suggested and found what i had originally read it was by feingold.i learned something new in fact i thought my son now 6 was allergic to peanuts when he was younger but hes accidentally gotten them a few times in the past at school ,etc. anyway weve .given him a few peanuts at a time ,boiled peanuts and he loves them.earlier this week i gave him quite a few and we had a terrible day the next day .so there is definitely a link between the food and the behavior .i just didnt know peanuts were on the list of high phenol foods because i havent seen that article in some time.i was sceptical about even posting a message about it but now im glad i did thank you so much for your help i will research it more ,thank you again .i love this site
Guest guest
Molly, I can't speak for tomatoes . . . I hear pros and cons about them. . . I like them, so I eat them . . raw and cooked. However, Cilantro is another outstanding herb! It helps draw out heavy metals in addition to it's other benefits. I'd suggest doing web search for " Cilantro " if you want to know more. Guest guest
I love cilantro. We are putting some on fish tonight. Until we can afford to order some of the other fish, we are getting the best we can find here. > Molly, > > I can't speak for tomatoes . . . I hear pros and cons > about them. . . Guest guest
What is everyone's take on tomatoes? I am trying to get my body healthier and more alkaline. Some authorities speak highly of tomatoes but places like the Hoxsey clinic exclude them because of the acidity. I'm confused about whether tomatoes are good for you or possibly detrimental. Guest guest
I cannot eat raw ones as they make my IBS thing a lot worse. Cooked are not as bad although they agrivate it too....just not as much. I was actually allergic to them when I was younger and broke out in a rash.....lol. Guest guest
Different tomatoes have different acidities. Personally I like the acid ones because I think they have more flavor. My sister has a fit because they are in the nightshade family, along with peppers, potatoes and eggplant.
