Guest guest
The best book I've ever read on pregnancy and childbirth hands down is SPIRITUAL MIDWIFERY by Ina May Gaskin (of the old Farm commune in Tennessee). It is an old book and may well be out of print now, but it's worth digging up a used copy if you can find it. In fact, , if you can't find a copy, your daughter is welcome to my old much-read and dog-eared copy. I don't plan on having any more babies.<G> Just email me privately her snail mail info and I'll stick it in the mail. (Do it quick, though, because we're moving to Florida on Saturday and I don't plan on bringing it with me unless you tell me you want it.) Sharyn, been there done that From: health [mailto:health ] On Behalf Of Sylvia in answer to your original question, i have been trying to find my herbal book on Womens health so i can share the book title and author with you. -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
We loved our midwife. The last 3 pregnancies were totally different and much less stressful than the first 6 (had docs for those) I can't recommend midwives highly enough. Even though we had to have a specialist deliver the last one due to his heart problem....the midwives still cared for me up till the last few weeks......then the specialist took over, but he was even great about them supporting us and even had consultations with them.My labours went from over 30 hours down as low as 1 1/2 hour due to less stress. Guest guest
That's precisely why I homebirh and have a private midwife. I don't believe in hospital birth (unless of course it is necessary for some reason) at all. My first birth was interferred with even by private midwifes and I ended up in hospital. My last 5 have all been born peacefully at home and I have not seen a doctor or specialist for all 6. I can't really afford it either I now after the last one owe her $7,000.00 and I just paid $1,000.00 of it. She understands she will get it eventually. She is wonderful and has been with me for 5 births now. I knew NOTHING about anything that was going on and what was/wasn't normal. I let the doctors and nurses jerk me around. If I had had some one to speak for me who actually knew something I think my whole birth experience wouldn't have been so horrible. He wasn't coming out the natural way for nothing..... he was way too big (15" head, 10 pounds) and had the cord around his neck but if she would have been there she may have stopped the unnecessary pitocin for 8 hours before they determined what I was telling them all along: HE'S TOO BIG!
