First, the Hemp Seeds come from the flowering buds located at the top of the plant and at the end of the larger branches. The Seeds are fully developed after the pollen flowers have blossomed, they are easily obtained by shaking the plant. Depending on the size, each plant can produce from 500 to 25,000 seeds.

Hemp Seed Oil

Each seed contains about 30% oil which is exuded when the seeds undergo pressure. Hemp Seed oil has been used all throughout the world's history for such energy sources as lamp oil and cooking oil etc. Hemp seed oil has been found to burn the brightest out of all oils. The oil has other uses as well, hemp oil is excellent for paints and varnishes because it drys quickly and doesn't require all the toxions and chemicals that most paints have today. Rembrandt painted many of his master peices with hemp oil based paints. Hemp oil is extremely obsorbant and with its high content of nutrients, it makes great skin care products. From chapstick, cosmetics, and lotion to shampoos and soaps, they all help make the skin and body externally more healthy. Hemp oil also makes excellent lubercation and has been used in precision engines.

Nutrition

Now onto the seeds uses for food and nutrients. The seed and its oil are extremely nutritious and if incoporated into everyday eating, it would benefit its consumer about a million different ways. First some basic nutritional facts. The Hemp Seed is lowest in saturated fats and very high in polyunsaturated fats, it is the highest in total essential fatty acids, it contains all the essential amino acids, the seed is also 25% protein which provides an excellent source of vegtable protein, and it actually helps reduce cholesterol in the arteries, unlike the protein from animal meats, now isn't that impressive! There are many different ways to consume the Hemp Seed, surprisingly it tastes good, and adds a distinct flavor to the foods it's cooked with. Many people eat the seed plain as well as prepare it with other foods. The seed oil makes wonderful salid dressings, and you can cook many things in just the oil itself. You can bake the seeds into brownies or cookies and other baked goods, sprinkle it on top of baked potatos, or mix it with other fruits, nuts and raisens. The seed can also be ground up into a peanut butter paste, or it can be made into plain butter (the nutrient level of hempseed butter compared to regular butter is ridiculous!) The Hemp Seed can do anything and everything that the soybean can do. You could make a Hemp hamburger instead of a soyburger or anything else that the soybean can make or be made into. Plus using the Hemp Seed instead of the soybean would greatly increase the nutritional valuse of the food. There are many ways and methods to eat the Hemp Seeds, and they are only limited by your imagionation, so be creative and go make a Hemp pie if that suites you!
