I've used beeswax for years in salves.. never had a problem with it...

I think any oil can go bad after a period of time or contamination... where did you keep it? in a cool dark place?? or in a place where the sun could hit it..? How old is it?? Everything breaks down in time... SV <shavig@...> wrote:

Question - not having ever used beeswax I was curious - doesn't it clog your pores? In my mind it does, but like I said, I have never used it.

Also, can primrose oil go bad? I bought some and it smells like cooked turkey!

I know.. I've never had a problem with beeswax in salves whether on face or anywhere else.. but I wash face am and pm..

and my questions were on the primrose oil.. how long you had it, does it have a mfg date, where do you keep it, etc.

Suzanne, I wasn't asking if beeswax goes bad, it was primrose oil. I was questioning whether or not beeswax would clog my facial pores.

Is is a true essential oil? or is the oil base something like olive oil, etc.

Does your bathroom become a sauna (like mine when I take hot showers)? SV <shavig@...> wrote:

Primrose - in the bathroom, don't know how long and no date. It's a locally made, organic.

It is an oil similar to olive oil. It is JUST oil, nothing added. It comes in an 8 ounce bottle and is to be used on skin. Not an essential oil although after smelling it on me all day I added some lavender!

My husband would have hot rocks in the bottom of the shower if he could figure out how just to make more steam! Does that answer your question?

Thanks, Shari

ROFL... I'm with your husband... more steam!!!! However, the temp changes could affect the oil... I've had oil goe bad... got cloudy and smelled bad when it sat on a shelf above the stove...(in the winter)... seemed the hot and cold (so to speak) wasn't the best for it. I had the bottle for maybe 5 or so months..

Now I keep all oils in a cabinet away from heat or heat/air ducts. Haven't had a problem since. SV <shavig@...> wrote:

Hi Shari,

If you were to melt beeswax all over your face it would most definitely

clog up your pores. However, most creams or salves use so little beeswax

that it won't clog your pores. If you are still concerned then consider

shea butter or one of the other butters.
