Good Morning All,

Hope this day will all find you well. Hello to anyone new that came in while I wasn't looking :)

I'm debating on whether or not to cut one of my father's pinkie toenails. He has been having so much pain that he had to cut his shoes. He has had a corn for quite a while on that little toe and figured it was that. While he was in the hospital and I was putting lotion on his feet, I noticed that the nail grew right over the top and into the back of the toe into his skin (all his toenails are diseased). I would like to cut it but he is insulin diabetic and I am wary. So questions are: Is there anything I can do to soften the nail to get it out of the skin? Anything that I could use to numb the area? ( I was thinking cepacol or something..lol numbs the throat ?) AND what would be good to insure that he would not get an infection.

He has so much going on that he does not need anything more, especially coming from me.

I would so appreciate any thoughts. At this point, not sure if he would go to a foot doctor also as he has so many decisions to make as is.

Thanks so much

Wishing all a beautiful and blessed day

Toni

Toni, you could soak it in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes to soften the nail. Oragel (that is sold for tooth pain) will help numb it. For infection, you could use something holistic or use Listerine.

Super tonic can be used topically for infection. Soaking the foot in epsom salts or just warm water to soften nail..
