Guest guest
ND's or chiropractors will be more likely to sell you a bottle to use at home. I have had no problem with either of mine. According to my chiropractor, you don't want to use B-12/complex for extended periods of time because it affects the blood somehow. Don't quote me because it has been years since he explained it to me, but I think it had something to do with changing the cell shape over time. I'll ask the next time I see him in a few weeks. Guest guest
I enjoy going to my ND, I enjoy finding out what is going on with my body and ways to help it. I have been disappointed by lab results many times but still enjoy learning from him. I am a test junkie! Kenda > I hate going to the doctor too. I try to do just about everything > without them. Guest guest
kendra I have tested twice over the past four years with an excessive b12 level. I definitely was not supplementing either. What would Dr.Leu say about that? I once found a very remote connection between high b12 and low iron but could never find it again on the internet. I am puzzled why I would have a high level--well outside the norm. Also my folic acid was above normal at one time. Because of this I have been afraid to use any sublingual b12. Any info would be appreciated. Guest guest
Hi Kathy! Gee, I have no idea what would cause high B-12 and folic acid. I have always tested low on both and supplement so I have never spoken to Dr. Leu about being low. If you decide to supplement, I'd definitely test first because my chiropractor said being high on B-12 can cause blood problems. Guest guest
I actually tested high on Vit B12 once it was when I was giving myself injections though. They said that was probably why. It can be from eating allot of red meat too. I never was told that would be a problem though. Guest guest
- Did your chiropractor say what kind of blood problems? I just can't find any info on it on the internet. The second timeI was tested it was lower than the first time, but still significantly outside the norm. I'll have to ask him when I see him again, probably in a week or two. It seemed like it changed the white cell size making it unable to fight as well, or something like that. I'll let you know when I go in again. Kenda > Did your chiropractor say what kind of blood problems? I just can't > find any info on it on the internet. Guest guest
Depends on the state you live in. In Idaho you can buy syringes and needles anytime you want and amount without a prescription but in CA you have to have one. Depends on where you are. I have got my B 12 injectable in Canada and Mexico. They both sell them without scripts. In , Lynda <coss@p...> wrote: > > You need a prescription often to obtain needles from most pharmacies. Guest guest
Hi Kathy, Here is my understanding about this subject. Of course, I am not a doctor, so I would encourage more investigation, but from what I understand, if there is a high level of a supplement in the blood stream, and it is definitely known not to be from supplementation, it may be that the cells are not taking it in and using it. As an example, look at diabetes....the sugar is in the bloodstream but the insulin is not there to allow the cells to take it in and use it, so it sits there in the bloodstream and you will test with high blood sugar. In the case of B-12, the liver is involved in the use and storage of this supplement, so it could be that the liver is involved. Or perhaps it is an enzyme issue....who knows? But a high blood level of a supplement does not mean that your body has more than it needs...it can indicate an inability to make use of it. Same idea with magnesium....I know one of our members who always tested high for magnesium, but was in terrible pain all the time. Magnesium is involved in muscle relaxation, and inflammation, and the doctor was convinced she had all she needed. But what if the cells are not able to make use of it? Guest guest
Here's some excellent information on Magnesium http://www.magnesiumresearchlab.com/ . . . I credit the doctor behind this research lab with saving me. He believes magnesium is involved in FM. My feet started burning after taking Neurontin - which depletes magnesium. The website is very informative. He also has info to give to your doctor if you feel the need to. When I gave it to mine, she referred me to a naturopath because he is more informed about nutritional issues. Rogene

Guest guest
Hi patty That is kind of what I thought too. But the doctors don't really care anyway. My doctor just says that he only knows that low is a problem and since I test high, he doesn't think I need any. It is frustrating because Iknow this is telling me something, but what? As long as it isn't associated with something bad, I guess I won't worry about it. I will just keep on with my program which is bringing me closer and closer to getting completely well. She now carries it with her all of the time at home or away and swears by it for her Fibro pain. I have no idea why it works, but seems to.
