Guest guest
I have never liked raw garlic and I don't recommend eating it raw. I ate a lot of raw garlic (just swallowed cut up cloves) when I first found out I had a candida overgrowth 15 years ago. I always had a nasty garlic taste in my mouth. It was very hard to digest -- I had a lot of gas and bloating. I think it's tastier and much easier on the digestion to use garlic in your cooking. That said, I will use raw garlic in hummus and guacamole -- but I don't use a lot. If you are taking probiotics, eating fermented foods, and following the GAPS diet, your candida overgrowth will disappear in time. It can take several months to a couple of years to really get it in check if you have a bad overgrowth. Guest guest
I love raw garlic. I used to eat slices on cubed cheese before the diet. Awesome combo IMO. As for the burning etc. i only had that experience when i had large pieces. It was the equivalent of eating a mild/hot salsa. Passed i na couple of minutes and i sliced my next one a little smaller I read Anne Maries post and it made me wonder if the reactions are because of the yeast over growth. I am quite sure McBride mentions that these types of reactions can also be because the food is therapeutic. I have a friend who's child obviously has a major yeast/fungal issue. She is allergic to everything food wise and all probiotics. In fact everything typically recommended for killing yeast she tests highly allergic too. Has reactions to VCO etc. According to something i read by Fallon there is nothing in the actual VCO for someone to be allergic too. Anyhow mom has has not known what to do to kill it off. I told her i would forget what the ND said and the tests and start using anti fungals like VCO etc. in small amounts. I think that most likely she is having allergic reactions because it will kill it off and the yeast knows it. Couldn't help but wonder if the gas, bloating etc. that some people experience when using raw garlic is exactly that - die off reactions. > > I've heard juicing carrots and garlic is good for candida. Guest guest
Hmm that is interesting -- I hadn't thought of that! My MIL is very sensitive to garlic. At restaurants she asks if any of her choices have any garlic before she orders. She says she is " alergic " because it is easier to explain that way. I think she has severe gut dysbiosis, and have wondered if the reaction to garlic is because of die-off. I don't know about the garlic burning all the way down, but as for gas and bloating I would suspect die-off. I have fermented garlic and think it reduces the unpleasant effects. (NT pickled garlic, except I chop it first & don't use the basil). - www.krautpounder.com Check out our hand made solid maple tool for fermented food preparation produced by the Eugene Chapter of Weston A Price Foundation
