Guest guest
Tammy Vance Reglan is OK to take. You were (at least the newbies) give a prescription for it at discharge from the hospital. Babies and breastfeeding are my areas of specialty. You may contact me by email, phone (803-755-0750) or cell (803-261-0792). I will be more than happy to assist you in this area. I worked in the Neonatal ICU and nursing/milk supply was always a big problem. Baby Girl Hi everyone, My name is Tammy Vance and I had my MGB surgery on 12/20/00 with Dr. R. One year later I had lost 100 pounds and got pregnant with my third child. On September 15th I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She weighed 6pds 12 oz and is so healthy. I had a beautiful pregnancy with no complications whatsoever. Even a great delivery. Yes epidurals rule.....Anyways now I am trying to breast feed which I have never done before and my milk is not producing fast enough. It seems like I run out at night so I am having to supplement formula. My pediatrician has given me a drug called raglan that is supposed to speed up milk production but I am afraid to take it without contacting Dr. R first. I have e-mailed him twice and have gotten no reply. Is his email still drr@...? I have never had a problem not hearing from him before?? Does he answer his phone messages? Anyone have his phone number? Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Tammy Vance 12/20/00 Dr. Rutledge
Guest guest
Hi Tamara, The Reglan is fine for our patients. Our MGBers get it post op for nausea. Don't count on it being the answer for you to make your milk come in. I had twins 3 1/2 years ago and wanted to breasfeed. I pumped for a month while taking Reglan and every herb the lactation consultant could recommend. I never got the milk to come in. I'm not saying this will happen to you, I am just saying you should mentally prepare yourself for the possibility that breastfeeding is not a given just because you have breast tissue. Neither my OB nor the pediatrician could explain the problem. Good Luck to you. I hope you are successful. Being a nurse practitioner I was so aware of the benefits of BFeeding and I was devastated when it didn't work out how I had planned.
