Guest guest
Toni, Keep us informed as you progress with this... Best Wishes, Trudy ) Endoscopy results Hi Everyone, It's been a long 18 days waiting for my scope results. I saw my gastro doc yesterday and he said my biopsies were normal, there's no damage to my esophagus or stomach and no evidence of any bile problems. We are looking at my gallbladder as the source of my pain and I get an ultrasound this Friday. I'll post results when I get them. I posted this message on the old group and if someone would like to put it on the pre-op group that would fine with me. I'll be sending my scope results to Dr. R. Guest guest
Great news Pam! in GA endoscopy results Well all is as great as I feel. I had my scope this morning and my Dr say all is well. He said Dr R. did a great job with all the connections and I didn't have anything in my stomach that would cause any damage (including bile). So now I am going to quit worring and enjoy my 125 pound loss. Congrats to all my littermates that are doing well also. Guest guest
HI Sorry to hear your son is suffering. I have been an " A " sufferer for 12 years, 3 of which I believed my symptoms were in my mind, as that is what the doctor told me at 15 years old! (Don't let them fob you off) I have had 3 Surgeries, and approx 15 dilatations, and each time I have an Endoscopy - I am told how " Good looking " my Eosophagus is, and how easily the endoscope passes through!(Compliments to my surgeon I guess!) Basically - I have always been told that to look at my Eosophagus you wouldn't know I had " A " .....Yet I suffer with symptoms every day. From my experience, for me, (Which could be the total opposite of someone else on the site) Manometry studies have been the best way to tell, on paper, whats going on. Barium has also shown good results - but lately i've found that the barium is so heavy, that gravity helps push it through - which of course, doesnt show how my oesophasgus would normally function. The best judge of when I need " Maintenance " for my " A " , is ME! I know myself better than any test could - and I think my surgeon just does the tests to back up what I say. Anyhow - Just really wanted to say that I really dont think you can use JUST an Endoscopy to diagnose " A " - but, as always, that is just my view!! Its heartbreaking to hear that your child is suffering. I hope everything works out for him soon! Remember the support is always here for you. Good luck with your appointments, and please keep us posted. Vix > Does anyone have any info. on what an endoscopy will show in relation > to " A " . I am so steamed. Guest guest
Vix - Thanks for your response. We did the motility study, which showed everything contracting and once, then an upper GI, which showed the stretched esophagus. We did an endoscopy prior to all that, which showed a mild inflamation in the upper part. At that point they said it was acid reflux. What's confusing me now is why he wanted another endoscopy. He said something about if the inflamation was worse, he would think " A " . But that doesn't make sense to me. It's just so frustrting now having to wait a week (at least) to get to talk to the doctor. I honestly don't think we have a week to spare - this kid is 12 years old, down from 82 pounds to 64 pounds at 4 " 10 " tall (yeah - he was too skinny to start with!) He is absolutely miserable, starving all the time and having no energy.
Guest guest
God - I am so sorry your son is suffering so badly. I am no doctor - but I think your consultant is wasting valuable time, that your son could spend eating, if they were to actually pull their finger out and DO something rather than keep " Diagnosing " ! What more proof do they want?! Sorry about that - went into a little rant. I don't know how you do it, but I really think you should try and get in to see someone as soon as you can. Hurry them up a little, become a pain if you have to, cos i'm sure they can work more quickly if they really try??!! Good luck - Keep us posted. Vix > > Vix - Thanks for your response. Guest guest
Hi On a more positive note. I lived for six months on nothing more than chocolate, crisps, icecream - generally nice tasting food. It wasnt a great solution - but it gave me more energy, and it seemed easier to eat things that I really liked. I always seem relaxed enough to eat a bar of chocolate!! Take care Vix > > Vix - Thanks for your response. We did the motility study, which > showed everything contracting and once, then an upper GI, which showed > the stretched esophagus. Guest guest
Dear Ellen, That is great news! You are doing a wonderful job and it makes me smile to hear of your success. Keep up the great work. Newton Medical Records www.clos.net www.shn@... Endoscopy Results Just wanted to post my EGD results. Had a colonoscopy and gastroscopy on Monday, Sept. 30 and the gastroenterologist said that usually they see all the terrible complications from gastric bypass surgery. He had never seen any of Dr. R's work but said my upper GI and my bypass were " awesome " . In perfect order and absolutely no gastritis, etc. He was very impressed with the results and said I must have done my homework to find someone willing to " modify " current procedures in order to have such a good outcome and so few complications. So you go, Dr. R. Thanks for the awesome connections. Guest guest
So you have a feeding tube, but you still try to eat food by mouth too? That's the part that confused me... I didn't understand how you had impacted food in your esophagus when you eat through a feeding tube. Debbi in Michigan
Guest guest
Hi, well the results to the endoscopy here that my stomach is inflamed and bleeding, also there is another organ below the stomach below the stomach " B " something that is also inflamed, and the mentioned something about vertices or something like that, very confused. I wish they did not try to explain things to you when you are so drugged out, the put the IV in the hand this time, so painful, yikes! They gave me some medication. the endoscopy went okay, they put me asleep, and then I slept in the room for a long time after, then since I come home my throat is so sore, but at least it is not numb anymore. thanks so much, Hugs, ny

I can't stress enough, how important that is for you.I'm only hoping that the word you didn't understand was varicies (sp ?) It certainly would explain all of your bloating and tummy trouble though.
