Lynn, Treatment effects everyone differantly. If you are otherwise

healthy, eat a balanced diet, and handle medications easily then you

may not need to take time off. Some people notice the side effects

are worse a few weeks into treatment. One thing you can to do to

help the sides is to drink PLENTY of water. Divide your weight by

2, that is the number of ounces of water you should drink every day

while on treatment. For me that was 180 pounds divided by 2 equals

90 ounces. Some people get a faucet filter to get rid of some of

the taste and chemicals in tap water. Learn to love water.

Ask your doctor about anti depressants. Common pratice with anti-Ds

is to start them 2 weeks before you start treatment.

This group has lots of support to share, visit often, Glenn

I finished the 48 week treatment of peginterferon and daily

ribovarin (or whatever the hell it was) last May. Mr drs. and I

sort of stalled starting the treatment until we were sure we could

get on the peg program.

I found that the peg would 'hit' about 6-8 hours after I stuck

myself and then last about 12 hours. So, if I had things to do

Saturday, I would take the peg Saturday evening and then laze/nap

(and comsume mass quantitites of water) around the house on Sunday

and let the world pass me by that day. I would be o.k. for work on

Monday. My drs. said it wasn't terribly important to take the peg

the same time every week or even the same day.

Oddly enough, some weeks I had no reaction at all, but I'd say most

of the time I planned on about 1 day of feeling like I had the flu.

I didn't take any anti-depressants either, but that's just me.

I've also heard of people feeling bad two days after taking the

shot, so you may have to experiment some.

Good luck

Thanks Ken your the first I have read about the peg treatment and your story

makes me feel better. I figure I am depressed now about it all and was

afraid it would really hit after the treatments start. But now you have me

thinking again.

I plan on taking the peg on Sat and don't need to be back at work until

Tuesday. So this might all work out OK. Thanks again, there is a light at

the end of this confusing tunnel. Lynne

Hi Guys,

Well, i survived without an issue after my first shot. If the next 23 go as well then I will be a happy women. I have no idea what to expect so I am just planning on this being a temporary thing to deal with.

Thanks for all your support,

I don't eat this that I'm cooking. Almost everything is way too salty ( just me; they're not really). I tried the chicken & dumplings...ewwww SALTY.. Other than corn dogs, everything else I eat is sweet. Sweets are the only thing that I don't gag from the " salt". I pretty much have stopped the throwing up. And I'm hypoglocemic ,, so I eat small something every coupla of hours. But for sure, it won't be " healthy" LOLCorn dogs, applesauce , oatmeal & lots of water!http://facebook.com/people/andTrudy-Kinsey/1340460877 " "A well- behaved woman never made history"...Mae Westhttp://oktravels.wordpress.com http://allrecipes.com/cook/TrudyK/profile.aspx ------------------------------------

Just out of curiosity, when did you take your shot?  Any fever?  Anything odd?

I took the shot Friday night at 8pm. Hubby did it for me and I didn't feel a thing. My thigh went a little numb for a while. The next morning my back hurt so he rubbed it. And it was fine. Later in the day both of my rib bones hurt like heck but it went away. I am always hot and cold so I am use to it and had some of that too. However, having said all tis, I went out with my daughter at noon and didn't get home until 4am. We went to bingo and got stuck in a terrible snow storm. It took us over 3 hours to drive home. But I was fine either way.DonnaSent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: Theresa Gottlieb <theresagottlieb@...>Sender: Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2011 17:25:42 -0600 < >Reply Subject: Re: [ ] 1st treatment Just out of curiosity, when did you take your shot?  Any fever?  Anything odd?Hugs,TeriOn Sun, Jan 9, 2011 at 4:57 PM, <dmgarr@...> wrote: Thanks Teri, I am so excited. Great. I'm happy to hear that. My nurse told me to do them in the top of my thighs and the belly. A different place every week. The water is great and I feel like a camel but can stand it.Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerryFrom: "pam miller" <pammango@...>Sender: Date: Sun, 9 Jan 2011 19:27:52 -0500< >Reply Subject: Re: [ ] 1st treatment yeah...Don't think I could do them anywhere else but belly.
