Guest guest
No EO's or any smells of any sort near her right now - she has an immediate projectile vomit reaction (she can smell the plastic bags big time). I tried the nutrition in capsules and they didn't stay, so we're just not going to push anything right now like that until she's in a little better shape. I'm looking thru my herbs to brew up a tea to add to her green tea. She can handle green tea and herbs are a wonderful source of nutrition as well as some can help get rid of the toxins. Slippery elm will be one herb for sure!!!!! She's on some serious meds to stop the vomiting and they aren't even touching it. Burdock root, alfalfa are on the top of the list I've got worked up so far. I'll put a small spoonful of tofu or protein powder in her yogurt and see how that works also. Any creamy thick soup is not a good idea. I'd like to make up a good smoothie based on yogurt with protein in it and see if that'll work. I'm making some rejuvelac with wgheat berries instead of barley - she's allergic to barley right now. See if I can add a spoonful to her yogurt. Guest guest
It wouldn't stay down - I'm going to mix just a little bit with some other stuff to see if that works. Then start increasing the dosage as we can. I also made up some potassium broth and we'll see if that sounds good to her. It's watery. Have you tried any ginger root tea.. to calm the stomach? Guest guest
Slippery elm for her stomach? What about finding an EO that she loves the smell of and putting it near her when she eats? Can she put the complete nutrition in a sippy cup or other covered cup so she can't smell it? In a zip lock bag with a straw? And drink while she holds the EO near her nose? Guest guest
My brother in law was eating tons of cheese and animal products. He was told he would heading for chemo / radiation so today was his visit to speak to dr. about his failed kidneys mass. Today dr. said his kidneys went from 30% function to now 60% functioning and he has gotten off red meat and a drug for his water retention. So far that's all I know he did. Dr. said...come back in 5 months. I suggested he still bump up dietary changes, but that's where my line is drawn unless he asks "how." Hope this will encourage others to give up meat and/or all animal products. Food for thought and no judgment. carolgbbarnyard82637@... wrote: That's rough Gayla! Gayla - so far none of the ideas worked. Even talking about the rejuvalac caused serious heaving. Of course, just getting up out of her chair causes her to heave ho right now. The bad part is her congo african grey that automatically makes puking noises when he sees her get up. She'll think about it and get herself geared up for it and try it later on. Guest guest
How long has she been in chemo? The most recent round = All last winter for a liver turmor until June - then brain surgery and radiation July Aug Sept for brain tumors - then another tumor on her back and kidneys a week after the brain radiation stopped. 22 more days of radiation on her back, and then all of last week with chemo. What is her doctor giving her for the vomiting? They do not know what else to try she was told. They checked again for another brain tumor this week because they were afraid this isn't right and may have a cause other than chemo and meds. She still has a brain and no tumors ). Does she have health insurance, so she can afford the drugs that will help her? Nope - but she's on some sort of program and that's not been too much of a problem so far. Has she discussed the vomiting with her doctor? For the past 3 weeks - they can't get it stopped. He's a fantastic dr that doesn't give up and does a lot of researching on her behalf. So far messing with her diet has done the most good. She lost 10# in one week. How much longer is she going to be in chemo? She'll have a scan done next week to check the back/kidney tumor - so it's possible she's done with chemo if she gets a good report. What anti-cancer chemo is she getting (I got Cisplatin and 5 FU). She was on the Cisplatin before - I don't remember what this round is - she was on it the very first time and has been on several different kinds - some that you can only use once in your lifetime. Some experimental that they didn't know would work on her cancer and did. She tells me all the names of what she takes and shows them to me, but they pass right over my head. I figure her body is just worn out from everything she has recently gone thru. We were making progress before the chemo this past week and she lost ground again. Right before the chemo, she was getting back on solid foods and keeping them down - her blood levels were all high. She did get a blood transfusion last Thursday, but that really didn't help her energy levels. The drs are watching her very closely and we are doing all these little things like juicing and digestive enzymes that we can. She was in a panic mode last night over it all thinking she's going into starvation mode, but today was a lot better and she's willing to relax and let herself rest. Guest guest
From a friend who is going through it right now... How long has she been in chemo? What is her doctor giving her for the vomiting? Does she have health insurance, so she can afford the drugs that will help her? Has she discussed the vomiting with her doctor? How much longer is she going to be in chemo? What anti-cancer chemo is she getting (I got Cisplatin and 5 FU). The answers to these questions will give me a little bit of a line on what *I* can do to help. It's a helluva risk for me, BUT ... the stupid VA renewed a couple prescriptions that I got originally when I was getting chemo. I do not need them. I cannot return them. One of them only cost $15 at the drug store. The other costs $600 for 15 pills. It's a powerful drug called Zofran (ondansetron HCL 8 MG). At $40 a pill , it ought to be strong. Get her to answer the questions above. Then get her to call her oncologist and ask about this drug. Is it dangerous? If so, I would think my doc would have told me so. All he did tell me was to take one bill every 8 hours, as needed. Let me know what you find out. Bottom line on chemo and vomiting: My dox told me no one should ever have to go through a lot of vomiting on chemo; there are too many really good drugs to prevent it. Guest guest
This is just an idea..... and I'm sure it's not the best thing in the world to eat but keeping anything down at this point would be nice..... when I was younger and had a BAD case of pneumonia I lost 11 pounds in just a couple weeks from vomiting and not keeping food down (and I was so young I only weighed 60 pounds to begin with). The ONLY thing I could keep down for almost a month was canned peaches and pears with the syrup rinsed off of them. Not sure why but that was the ONLY thing that went down and stayed there. I couldn't even keep WATER down. Just an idea. Guest guest
Hi Gayla, I've been reading all these posts about chemo and this one I had to respond to. I agree, most of these drugs that are being suggested are against what we believe on this list, but, it's not us that are suffering from cancer, it's the people who are dependent on doctors and drugs. So, we are not able to help them with natural medicine and have to go along with whatever they want. It's a shame because chemo is more deadly than the cancer. Guest guest
My cousin has been diagnosed with cancer of the tonsils. Of course he's had surgery, 84 radiation treatments and on the off days chemo. Now they are cutting him from ear to ear by way of his chest to take out his lymph nodes. He knows what I do and what I'm about and has asked a few questions. When I asked him when he was going to change things his answer was (and I'm not lying this is what he said) "I'm waiting to feel better before I start to eat healthy." What the happy heck is that supposed to mean?! My friend in Hawaii with Hep C is "going to start eating better AFTER Interferon". I'm with you, I put the offer out, I gave the information, what they do with it is up to them. Shari
