Guest guest
Hello , Just wanted to say " hello " , I'm Debbie and I have spinal stenosis also, as well as MANY other problems. I just wanted to welcome you to the group and say that I hope you have improvement from the injections. It is very difficult for our family and friends to understand exactly what we are going thru on a daily basis, and how it can beat you down trying to deal with this each day every day for ???? amount of time. I will be ordering the book that Dave told you about, recently looked into it and it looks really informative and really puts things into laymans terms for people that don't understand. I'd love to send one to everyone in my family but don't think they'd bother to read it. If only they understood how the littlest things can be huge for us! I hate to ask for help too, but when we need help we have to learn to speak up, that's the only way that others will know how to help us out. I have had my problems since May of 1999 (car accident)...it's been a while and I am still learning how to deal with this. Nice to meet you ! Hope the jury comes back with good news! Guest guest
Dear Connie, THANK YOU for doing all that work! I really appreicate it. The upkeep of this site is very taxing. As I said I updated it lastin 2007. Links go bad as quickly as companies go out of business or change their hosting site etc. So I really thank you. I will check into the links and update the list as soon as I can. YES I like medscape too. I forgot about them, mainly because the last few times I used them none were the web cast only the text read. I like both but particularly like the webcast since I like live CE. Thank you very much, I don't mind at all as I need someone to help check links now and then and again. Any volunteers? Jeanetta Mastron CPhT BS Pharm Tech Educator Founder/Owner of this site > > WOW! Guest guest
Hello, I was a member of this site a while back, got my CPhT after attending a small school. But I have not been able to find work. I do not do well on the trade and generic when they ask me during an interview. So I think that is the main problem. I noticed that you will be a speaker for one of the CE's from www.freece.com in September and another from a different company. So I signed up! Looking forward to it. I was wondering if that is the same topic for both CE's or not? Thank you in advance , RA > > Dear Connie, > > THANK YOU for doing all that work! I really appreciate it. Guest guest
Hi Ronoldapa. I am not sure if you tried this yet, but this really helped me learn trade and generics even after i started to work in the pharmacy. I bought top 200 drugs flashcards on ebay for abt 8 bucks. I would set a goal to memorize 10-15 a week, roughly two a day. I studied them before i went to bed and took them everywhere i went. When i had free time i pulled them out and constantly reviewed them, that's the key for taking info that is in your short term memory and putting it in your long term memory. Also, starting as a clerk would help too Good luck. > > > > Dear Connie, > > > > THANK YOU for doing all that work! I really appreciate it. The > upkeep > > of this site is very taxing. Guest guest
Dear Ronoldapa - RA, Glad to have you back on the site. Sorry that you are having difficulty finding work. Don't for get to build your self up on other areas. But they definitely will want T/g. For memorization of T/g Go to the files section S 7- Memorization of Trade and generics But if you found the audio sites then you probably found this file. Also try the link section. Yes I will be speaking on Stress and the Pharmacy Technician for both www.freece.com and www.pharmcon.com on the same night. It is quite late at 10 pm est but just right at 7 pm pst. It is more about how to handle the stress rather than what stresses there are on the job. It is one hour = 1 CEU. One must register and sign up before you can take the ce. Since it is live and online you will need to make sure your computer system will work with the audio ahead of time. At this time there are many more than usual signed up. I spoke on Hot Topics for Techs in 2008 back in Feb and a survey polled shortly there after and many comments from techs on the chat told us that they wanted the topic of how to deal with stress on the job. So here it is! I will look for your email addy there that night. By the way, the technique that worked for Yuriy has worked for many for many years. www.studystack.com can make the cards for you adn also do some online games. You only have to enter your drug list one time. kill many birds with one stone by placing trade/generic/classification/auxiliary label/MOA/AD's etc on the cards too. Thanks Jeanetta > > Hello, > > I was a member of this site a while back, got my CPhT after attending > a small school. But I have not been able to find > work. Guest guest
Hi ! Welcome to Bee's group! You will learn so much about health and natural healing. Bee's site is a wealth of information. I had stomach problems, too, that made me realize that the candida was growing out of control. They have improved greatly on Bee's diet. Guest guest
Hi all, and thanks Don from ks (Kansas?) for the invitation to speak. I'm male, 66, in Philippines, retired, and just found out I am HIV+ and HCV +. I grew up in Kansas, and we're not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy! The govt. here assigns each geographic area to a Dr. who sees all the area HIV patients. We've done an initial test to see what blood shows. She suggested that the HIV meds might in fact kill the HepC??? I don't know a lot about any of this, so it is a new journey of discovery. My BF has HepB, and I know more about that. So...thanks in advance for help and support! Rod
Guest guest
Hi Rod,My name is Teri.  I live in the Chicago area.  I was diagnosed with HCV in 2004 and went thru treatment in 2005-2006 for 48 weeks.  I was lucky enough to have the treatment work even though the odds were against me.  I am cured, I am a Hep C survivor. Wow..  double whammy huh?  I have heard that the HCV meds have some impact on the HIV..  I wouldn't doubt that the HIV meds might help the HCV as well.  In either case the cocktail of drugs is strong.  Don has done a lot of research and I think there are some articles in the Links Library about this very thing..  here is the link to the Library... /links There should be a bunch of info in there to get you going.  You have landed in a soft spot.  Lots of experience, lots of knowledge and people in all stages of their walk with this hiccup we call Hep C.  From just diagnosed to done with treatment and on the other side already.  Everyone is kind and helpful and we all have an opinion about something or other!  The only dumb question is the one you don't ask so ask away...  My question to you..  what can I do to help you out my new friend?  Ask away...Hugs,TeriOn Mon, Jan 10, 2011 at 5:47 PM, Rod <rodgis44@...> wrote:  Hi all, and thanks Don from ks (Kansas?) for the invitation to speak. Guest guest
My surgeon asked me if i was allergic to nickel on my preop visit. He decided to put an Oxinium and Nephew knee to avoid any problems. My TKR was 10/11/10 and I haven't had any problems at all ________________________________ From: Barbara Linden <linden2710@...> Joint Replacement Sent: Fri, February 11, 2011 5:37:14 PM Subject: Re: Newbie here  HI, MICHELE... I WAS ANXIOUS TO READ ANY POST FROM YOU, AFTER SEEING YOUR " MUSTLOVEANIMALS " PART. I ADORE ANIMALS! A FORMER AKC JUDGE, MY HEART IS NOW STRONGLY WITH RESCUE, AND WE HAVE 8 RESCUED DOGS AND 3 RESCUED CATS. I COULD TALK ABOUT ANIMALS FOR HOURS, BUT ON TO YOUR KNEE SITUATION! I HAD MY RT. KNEE REPLACED ON DEC. 16TH, AND AM GOING TO REHAB 3 x A WEEK. IRONICALLY, TODAY I MET A GAL THAT HAD JUST GOTTEN HER SECOND REPLACEMENT FOR THE SAME KNEE, AS THE FIRST ONE HAD TO BE REMOVED AFTER IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT SHE TOO WAS ALLERGIC TO METAL. I ASKED WHAT THE FIRST ONE WAS, AND IT WAS NICKEL. HER NEW ONE IS TITANIUM, AS MINE IS. I WAS VERY INTERESTED IN HER SITUATION BECAUSE I HAVE AN ALLERGY TO GOLD, AND WAS REALLY AFRAID OF BEING ALLERGIC TO MY NEW KNEE. ALL IS WELL THOUGH, THANK GOODNESS! I ASKED HER WHAT THE SYMPTOMS WERE THAT LET TO THE DIAGNOSIS OF BEING ALLERGIC TO THE KNEE. IT WAS VERY SWOLLEN, RED AND HOT. I'M HAPPY TO PASS THAT INFORMATION ALONG TO YOU. SHE IS DOING VERY WELL NOW WITH HER NEW TITANIUM KNEE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I WISH YOU ALL THE VERY BEST! I RARELY POST HERE, BUT LOVE TO READ AND LEARN. I JUST COULDN'T RESIST RESPONDING TO YOU! CHEERS! BARB LINDEN (OKLAHOMA) -- Newbie here Hi, I am Michele and I live in San Diego. I have a variety of medical issues and have had 17 surgeries, many being of an orthopedic nature. I just had my left knee replaced on January 6th of this year. What an experience that was. I have suffered with chronic pain for 11 years since I fell onto my back on a concrete floor at work and had to have a 2 level neck fusion. I have been taking narcotics since then, so my pain relief was challenging to say the least after my knee replacement. It has gotten better, but there was a few days right after the catheter was removed and I had to start getting up to go to the bathroom that I wanted to just go back and undo the entire thing. Fortunately it improved within a few days. I have a situation that I don't think is too unique and I am trying to find out if other may have a similar situation and maybe learn how to go about getting more information. I have had five surgeries on my left ankle. It began in 1972 when I was nailed by a truck was I was walking across the street. I had my first fusion in my ankle in 1994 and the second one in 1999 I began having problems a few years later. I also was having a reaction to my pierced earrings and my black hills gold wedding ring. I would get these bright red blistering sores where ever the jewelry was. My ortho did a bone scan and then asked me if I was having a reaction to jewelry. He determined I was having an allergic reaction to the nickle in my hardware in my ankle, so in October 2003 it was removed. Okay, fast forward to now. I feel like a complete idiot, but in light of all of my medical issues, medication and so forth, I forgot the reason the hardware was removed from my ankle. I can recall the surgery and so forth, but not the allergy. The titanium was removed from my neck when they had gone in thinking they would have to extend the fusion one more level, but it had healed so they removed the plate. I just totally spaced and forgot about the allergy. I had my surgery on a Thursday. A week from the following day (Friday, 8 days later) I began to develop these red blistery sores around my staples. I looked at that and a light bulb went off in my head. It hit me like a ton of bricks! I dealt with it and put off going to the ER and the following Monday went into the ortho department and had to have the staples removed. Because they had become embedded it was extremely painful. I am just grateful the allergy didn't rear its ugly head until the incision had some chance to heal. I am a Kaiser patient. My ankle surgeon is Kaiser, and so is my knee surgeon Apparently my ankle surgeon either forgot to, or just didn't feel the need to put down in my medical records that I am allergic to nickle. I saw my knee surgeon post op a month later and he is down playing my allergy. He said only a small percentage of people have an allergy to metal. Well, that may be but I am one of that small percent. He told me all implants have nickle. He said if he has to remove the implant he will have to put a block in its place and just fuse my leg straight. This is anything but accceptable to me. I don't know what to do. I don't know how to find out what the signs and symptoms of a reaction are if the implant is deeper inside. I have had ongoing problems ever since the first reaction to jewelry. I am petrified something can happen. Not having a knee is not really an option. I am willing to take some of the blame for knowing I was allergic, but shouldn't my health group take some for not noting in my medical records about this problem? Any advice is so appreciated. Thank you, Michele
