Rod,The only way to put some type of time frame on approximate time of infection is with a liver biopsy.  Then, based on the amount of damage to your liver, the doctor can tell you about how many years it took to cause that damage.  In my case, it was 25 years worth.  25 years before I had a blood transfusion...  but also had my teeth cleaned and my ears pierced...  so who knows what did it.  I promise you, you can make yourself crazy trying to figure it out.  Truly, it's not important...  really, its not.  I know that sounds easy for me to say but your mind is spinning trying to remember things that may have happened in your lifetime.  Trust me on this one, coulda been anything.  When someone asks me how I got Hep C, I give them a great big " I dunno " cause I don't.  Coulda been a lot of things.

Hope that helps,.Hugs,TeriOn Wed, Jan 12, 2011 at 5:39 PM, Rodney Gisick <rodgis44@...> wrote:

Thanks again for all your inputs!  How do you determine when you were infected?  All I've had is the initial test saying I had it. Thanks,Rod

RodI went ahead and read some of the other members posts to your question. Unfortunately, I agree with them wholeheartedly. I think I know when I was infected; but, really not all that sure. For the first 3 months after I was diagnosed, I did get my head really spinning. However, I still had enough sense to call "bullshit" when the Dr. tried to tell me that I likely got it from the handful of times I did IV drugs back in my real early 20's. Sure, I shocked him with that. Then, I went on to point out that if that were true, quite simply, I shouldn't be in my seat talking with him. Reason: I was an active alcoholic for another 15 of those years. Although I had already

been sober for another 15 years, I swallowed Tylenol like it was candy. So, in the end, who knows????Gloria
