Guest guest
No. The state of maine classified me as disabled to receive medicaid. Some people qualify for medicaid because of income being low, and for some reason i was classified as disabled to qualify. Plus the fact that i had no money. Oh Hell yea an ss check would come in handy, even if hubby worked. God it costs alot to LIVE these days. The girl at the chiro makes a joke. When she pulls up to the gas pumps now, she says, No more than 80$ please. It used to be a 20$. things are bad bad bad. Jeannie, my nutty father left a huge life insurance policy to his " friends " they were taking him for everything he had. I am fighting it. What i was thinking was if i am classified as disabled by my state, I may be able to file exploitation on them, cause i am legally disabled. The ssi thing will have to come later on down the pike. i was just curious, because some folks say they get denied if they have money or hubby works, others say they didn get denied. so i was wondering about it in general. I do know its a fight to get it and it takes a long time. cindy-- In PainInTheNeck- Back , Abbott <jeannieboo1@...> wrote: > > > Did your dr. ever sign a Certificate of Disabilty for you? That is probably the most important document you can have if you decide to go for SSI or SSDI. SSI is given to people who are low income, you have to meet a certain criteria. Each state may be different. When I applied for SSDI, they ran my info for SSI at the time I was at the Social Security office, and even though we didn't own a house or property, I was denied for SSI because of my husband's income. To me, it was worth the effort of applying for SSDI, because what I make each month really helps out, plus I get Medicare. I bring in over $1000.00 a month, I know some people make more, some less. It's worth it alone for the insurance, it would be very costly for me to get insurance through my husband's job. I don't know if there is a web site you can check to see what the requirements are for your state to receive SSI, or maybe your local Social Security office can tell you. > > Jeannie > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
I was denied first time then it went into reconsideration this is where its been the last 5 mths the online site says a decision was made i called the 800 # & they said it was denied but i just spoke with my atty & she said her contact says no decision has been made yet?! they are driving me crazy & thats a short trip. Blessed be marie--------- Sent from AT & T's Wireless network using Mobile Email - Re: [ ] Ssdi You do know that your claim goes up before them THREE times. Since you have an Atty they may be reviewing again sooner than if you didn't. You did say earlier that you have been denied twice ?? Or am I just confused & out of the loop ( probably ) ? http://facebook.com/people/andTrudy-Kinsey/1340460877 " " A well- behaved woman never made history " ...Mae West http://oktravels.wordpress.com http://allrecipes.com/cook/TrudyK/profile.aspx On Jan 27, 2011, at 2:44 PM, " Rain Beau " <annamariestitt@...> wrote: Ok i am seriously confused. my atty just called me back & she spoke with her contact at the social security dept they are saying a decision has not been made!? the website shows a decision has been made & neither my atty or i have recd anything in writing?! Guest guest
Liz. I do not know the legal answers but maybe he can buy some shoes, clothes, something for vacation. Or can't he pay you some of the price of vacation this month? I don't see why he can not buy lunch or dinner for everyone once and awhile. Looking forward to the answers myself.Shirley From: Liz <dljar58@...> Subject: SSDI IPADDUnite Date: Friday, March 4, 2011, 1:40 PM  My son got his SSDI check yesterday. After writing out his fair share expenses, (which we figured before our taxes & gas went up) he'll still have to much money. He'll be needing money next month when we take him on our vacation, but what about until then? Can't really put more into savings...enough there already. How long does he have to spend it? Does (the overage)all have to be spent this month? What if he doesn't need anything? When we go out to eat, is he allowed to " treat: once in a while? (I've been having him buy his own; we used to treat him, but that got to be a problem with SSI. Thanks, Liz
Guest guest
Remember, if he is on SSDI, and not on SSI, his “assets†do not count. They only count for SSI. On the other hand for traditional Medicaid the $2,000 asset test remains an issue, but if he is getting any kind of a paycheck, you can consider HBWD and he can then have up to $25,000 in assets and unlimited “retirement†assets such as IRAs, 401ks, etc. ______________ Rubin* [cid:image003.jpg@...] ___________________________________ The Law Offices of Rubin & Associates Law practice limited to serving the future & legal planning needs of Illinois families of children & adults with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, & /or mental illness... Guest guest
Yes, it is SSDI that he's on. He got switched in Jan. when my hubby started collecting his SS. He's not working any longer...Lost his funding when we had to take him out of the ICF he was in. Okay, so for in order for him to keep his Medicaid, then he still has to be under $2,000, correct? Which still leaves the questions of how long he has to spend it before it gets taken away. I don't want to spend it on stuff he doesn't need or won't use, just because he has it. I believe he can use it for the vacation, but that won't be until next month. We found out that he was way to low on what he had been paying us for his fair share expenses, so we just increased that. Now our taxes just went up & gas went up. So my hubby thinks we should do another increase. Liz

Guest guest
The IRA will be a resource for SSI (but not SSDI) and a resource for traditional Medicaid but not HBWD. ______________ Rubin* [cid:image002.jpg@...] ___________________________________ The Law Offices of Rubin & Associates Law practice limited to serving the future & legal planning needs of Illinois families of children & adults with intellectual disabilities, developmental disabilities, & /or mental illness...
