Welcome Hillary. Glad you have decieded to join us. I am a 50 yr old woman also type 1a. Tried tx but was pulled very shortly after starting due to all of my counts dropping so low and my thyroid being so unstable. I told the dr I knew about the rescue meds and wanted to continue he refused. I think there is mention of cure on the horizan but it is using the current 2 meds with a 3rd added. Cure rate is much higher then 40% and tx is shorter than 48 wks.

Hi all and thanks so much to all who replied to my post a few days ago.

Not been well so not been on here since...still finding out how it all works on the site.

I live in UK and am being monitored by a gastroenterologist and although they wanted me to have treatment free on NHS I declined, because with all my being nothing seemed right about it. I have a long term eye condition with sight in one eye which is not brilliant so any risk of losing that vision would stop me having the Tx, apart from the terrible irreversible sides that a lot of people get....I wont even take a Paracetamol, so I could never put that poison into me. A lot of people would probably be OK on it - I'm Genotype 1a, 56 years old, female.

I would love with all my heart to get rid of this nightmare...it's sooo difficult.

My Doc has always been OK with me not having Tx, he said he respects my choice, but asks me every time I go (annually) if I want the Tx.

My GP will do blood tests whenever I ask.

I've had 2 biopsies over 10 years ago but dont want more...whats the point if I'm not having TX. I'm scared to know now what the condition of my liver is like...I dont want any more scans or fibroscan because if I was told it was bad, that would have such a massive psychological impact on me, I would crack up, it would be the finish of me honestly. Yet, psychologically not knowing is having a negative impact on my health because I'm thinking it's destroying me from the inside.

My bloods have been OK all along, AST varying between 40-60, all the rest normal, but that does not mean I have not got cirrhosis does it? really does it?

I live alone so it's hard to keep picking myself up.

I think i should have tagged this at the end of my previous question? so that you'll know my backround.

I 've weighed about 100 pounds for the last 12 years and cant put weight on, but I dont think I'm getting enough amino acids and minerals so I've recently learned?

I would really appreciate your views please

thanks so much
