Guest guest
found a new homeopathic product that helps me fall asleep and fall back asleep when I wake up. It's called " Soy Nerve Food " It's a powder you mix in liquid. Contains: calc.phos 3x and kali.phos.3x plus, soy powder, slippery elm powder and arrow root powder. It's made my " Touch of Sun Herbs " -- a local herbalist in the SF Bay Area. You can google to website. I have absolutely no financial interest in this company or product, just passing along something that seems to help a little. I still have trouble with getting restorative sleep, though. michael

Guest guest
Hi all, Check out http://mattresses.net/ (If this has already been posted, I apologize) I called them yesterday about their mattresses. They say their latex mattresses come directly from the manufacturer, so there are no middlemen, which is why their prices are so much less, about half the price of what you'd buy in the store. Right now they are not charging for shipping on these mattresses. They also sell foam pads and overlays. Of course these prices are still out of my reach, but I thought I'd pass this on. This company had good reviews in the local Berkeley Parents Network email list. Grace, up with insomnia right now, as usual > Try a memory foam mattress topper, as thick as you can afford. Guest guest
I've noticed several people here have had problems sleeping after surgery. What is this due to? I remember one of you said it never went away. I started having problems sleeping after my son was born (1971) and finally gave in after 20 years & started taking sleeping pills, but now they don't work so well -- it's as if I'm not taking any -- I've begun remembering the whole night again, and having nightmares every night (recurring theme ones) -- and I haven't had my surgery yet. I've had other surgeries and this didn't happen. I don't want to add to it with post-TKR insomnia -- I'd like to know what causes it so I can head it off. Guest guest
I usually sleep on my side. After surgery I couldn't because of the pain in my legs and I just don't feel comfortable on my side because after while my ribs hurt. Guest guest
I will be 5 weeks out on Monday and my sleep pattern is the same way. Last night went to bed at 10:30 and finally go to sleep at 1:30 and was awake at 5 AM. I also don't nap during the day and I don't think I could if I wanted to. It's maddening and frustrating. Guest guest
Hi : I had TKR last Thxgiving and it all went well except for the insomnia that developed. I felt so desperate for sleep I thought I was going crazy and I couldn't understand what was going on. It started after I went off my pain meds, I was taking that " Rush Limbaugh " drug, I think it is oxycodone, a time released pain med. Very effective and never made me feel drugged. I didn't know it, but had become hooked and went through about 2-3 weeks of insomnia. Through a friend that had had a leukemia bone marrow transplant, I learned about an anti-anxiety drug that worked very well to help me sleep again on my own. It only took a few nights to break the cycle and kick my system back into normal (I usually fall asleep at the drop of a hat, that's why it was so weird for me). The drug is called Lorazipam and my doctor was happy to prescribe it when he heard of my trouble. Don't know if that helps you, but it did me. Good luck, Bill __________________________________________________

Guest guest
Just today I tried switching. I used to take it in the morning around 10ish after breakfast but now I thought I'd take it around 5 or so......I was still tired all day but I'll give it a week taking it at this time. I get plenty of sleep at night too and am trying to drink more water.......I also used to take Celexa and it never made me tired like this. I quit taking the Celexa because it was expensive even with insurance and I was tired of that monthly " payment " . LOL Now I realize I have to take something no matter the cost. Oh well. Guest guest
It's good that you have the patience to try it at different times and then give it a chance to work. Good idea to give it a week at the new time. I've also started drinking more water because I vaguely remember that some psychotropic meds make it easier to get dehydrated. I kept hoping that any side effects I was feeling would be cleared up by drinking water... some of them did go away. If you don't mind me asking, do you have the same co-payment whether you take celexa or lexapro? If it's the same would your doctor consider switching you back to celexa? > > > > > > Or someone, please answer my question about the sleepiness before I fall > > > asleep.....zzzzzzzzzzzzz > > > LOL > > > Cyndi > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
The water is really supposed to help! I'm not sure what my co-payment was for the Celexa because it was about 4 years ago that I took it. I just remember I got tired of paying for it so weaned off, thinking I'd be ok. Depression, mood swings and anger comes back no matter what. ( The doc did tell me he would switch me to Celexa if after the 6 weeks Lexapro isn't doing what it's supposed to. He just said Lexapro is a more pure form of Celexa so I should adjust fine. ) Cyndi On 10/21/06, Jen <jenniferm32@...> wrote: > > > It's good that you have the patience to try it at different times and > then give it a chance to work. Guest guest
My son was suffering from seizure for several years until I finally found what his body was missing and in his case it was protein and what ended up solving the problem was protein shakes. When your body is seizing it is searching for the missing nutrient, is it protein in many epileptics? I don't know but this is worth a try. What the shake is milk, raw eggs and I flavor it with whatever he likes, in his case it is Spirutein Cookies and Cream. Before that I tried everything with him that I had done to heal my body of MS which I conquered, it all helped (seizure kept reducing) but wouldn't take him to the finish line until I tried that shake. If you would like to read my site www.ginakopera.com click on epilepsy to read that story and letter. Have a Happy and Healthy Day, Kopera Re: [ ] Sleep HI, MY NAME IS ROBIN.
