Guest guest
Dear Bee, I am " off " the actual diet while I heal from the hysterectomy (I know my healing might be accelerated by being on the diet, but I really need to ease back into it, as the first time I went way too fast, which ended up being really stressful). I am trying to include as many things as possible so that when I start removing foods again, other things (staying off sugar; supplements; electrolyte drink; enough sea salt; higher good fats, etc.) will be routine. !!Yay me!! for realizing this!! I have searched the messages and files and can't find an answer to two questions about the actual amount of sea salt needed per day. You advise 1-1/2 teaspoons of good sea salt a day. I have two kinds of fine grind. One says that 1-1/2 tsp. is 5.4 grams; the other says that 1 tsp. is 9 grams. So 1-1/2 teaspoons of one is actually less by weight than the other. And a coarse grind would mean even less actual salt in the 1-1/2 teaspoons. I have two questions: 1--Do you or anyone else know for sure how much sea salt by weight, not by teaspoons, is required? This would be really helpful to me to know. I'd like to be sure I'm getting enough. 2--How much is too much? Unless I missed it, I can't find anything in the salt info files gives a definite idea (in teaspoons or grams) of how much sea salt one should consume daily. I am enjoying taking time to really learn about the diet before I plunge in again. Thanks for the mountain of research you have done! I'm thrilled your website is up again (:>) --Rhe

My daughter also had a hysterectomy March 14th. She is doing very well, and I hope you do too. I agree you need to ease back into the diet. Megadoses of vitamin C help healing a lot; start with 4,000 mg and every hour take 1,000 mg until you reach bowel tolerance, which is loose stools. If you do not reach bowel tolerance the 1st day increase the dose to 1,500 mg every hour, and so on. > > I have searched the messages and files and can't find an answer to > two questions about the actual amount of sea salt needed per day. > > You advise 1-1/2 teaspoons of good sea salt a day. Ocean sea salt that is more coarse, greyer and more moist contains more minerals that fine ground, so taking 1 1/2 teaspoons of it provides more than 1 1/2 teaspoons of fine grind. Sally Fallon at Weston A. Price recommends a minimum of 1 teaspoon for healthy people. I recommend more because most candida sufferers have low adrenal function. > I am enjoying taking time to really learn about the diet before I > plunge in again.
