Guest guest
I will try to keep a very long story short. First my name is Konnie. I have been married for 16 years and I have three kids 15, 10, and 2. When I was a child I suffered from reoccurring yeast, bladder, and kidney infections, and also what was called " sunspots " but is actually a fungus. My mom met a women chiropractor who advised her to buy " The Yeast Connection " and put me on the diet, as well as have me bath with white vinegar in my bath for the sunspots. We did this and I got better. Through my life I have always gotten at least one yeast infection a year but never though anything. Ironically, I have been telling a close friend for several years to put her child on the diet because of reoccurring yeast infections and a recent thrush infection, at 19 years of age. Her husband met someone while out of town and he told him all about candida and they got her on the diet 2 months ago. She is 100% better on this diet. Now back to me, about 6 years ago I began having reoccurrant UTI's again. I was diagnosed with 15 in 9 months. I then got pregnant and had not one UTI. As soon as my cycle returned I started with one every month. I was referred to a uroligist who insisted they were from a dropped bladder from " This " birth (ignoring that I had this problem before his birth) and he wanted to do surgery. He did some tests for kidney reflux that all came back fine and then wouldn't you know his practice went out of business. off I go to a second specialist who insisted that although the kidney reflux tests came back fine I still had it. he put me on long term macrobid and ordered a triple renal scan. Two weeks into my long term treatment I had a severe allergic reaction. I never went to the renal scan. 2-3 months went by with no UTI's (gee I now had 16 antibiotics in a year no wonder). I did howvwe develop those " sunspots " on my stomach again. Then I got a UTI and was so scared to get another antibiotic that I went to a chiropractor. He was my saving grace until I could no longer afford him. I am so happy to report that I have not had a UTI or any UTI " symptoms " in 4 months now. When I was pregnant I developed toes nail fungus which I thought was from getting pedicures before my pregnancy. Little did I know then...I also had gestational diabetes for the 2nd time. When DS was born I developed masttitis and then thrush on my nipples from the antibiotic for the mastitis. I was treated with ONE diflucan and it did not go away (the baby's doc refused to give me nystatin for him). i then treated DS and I both with gentian violet and it went away. Through my UTI nightmare I got 2 yeast infections and I got thrush on my nipples 2 more times. I have had several people tell me I need to do the candida diet but I have been so afraid to do such a restrictive diet that I have ignored it. All the while I knew what I needed to do. Last week I went to the dentist to have a back molar that had broken pulled. I had been on, you guessed it ANTIBIOTIC for a week prior to the procedure. All went well and I was recovering with zero pain. Until Monday when I started with a HORRIBLE sore throat and what felt like absessed gums in an area where my tooth was NOT pulled. By Wendsday morning my mouth was killing me and my throat felt like there was something stuck in it and I could not swallow. It felt like I was swallowing glass and my throat felt like one side was literally closing up on me. I called my doc right away. As I was getting ready, brushing my teeth, I noticed my tongue was pure white and mucussy. I figured it was all of the mucus from whatever was going on, although, I have had a mild white coat to my tongue for what seems like my entire life. The doc took one look in my mouth and asked how long my tongue looked like this. I said forever but it seems much worse now. His diagnosis...severe thrush of the mouth and throat. I cried! Not because I have thrush but because it was a revelation I have been ignoring for so so very long! He gave me a script for some antifungal losenges for 14 days and advised me to cut out all yeast, sugar, and dairy. Go figure! The funny thing is that as I was driving there I thought to myself don't forget to ask him if he can write you a script for nizoral cream for these sunspots on your stomach that are spreading and itching. lol Since then (grant you this is TWO days ago) I have thrush in my nipples again and my ears are itching like mad. My body has been taken over! I go to the gyno this afternoon for my yearly that I ironically have had scheduled for a few weeks now. I need to ask him for something for my nipples and the sunspots. I am not trusting that he will know what is best for me. I know I need nizoral cream for the spots but for the nipples should I ask for long term nizoral or diflucan? If he is a jerk about it I will call my primary monday and ask him but I am thinking nizoral not diflucan right? Also the diet is totally overwhelming me to where I am afraid to eat. i am so scared of this yeast that I am afraid to eat the wrong thing. Has this happened to anyone, these feelings? Not to mention it hurts like heck to swallow. My throat has gotten much better since starting the meds and my tongue looks great, comparatively but when I wake up in the morning it is horrible and late in the evening too. Anyways, if you have kept reading this long thank you so much and if you have any advice or words of encouragment I really need them today! Thank you so much!
