Guest guest
Not me, I am going to stick to clear liquids for another couple of weeks. Not saying that is right for everyone, it isn't. But I think it will be best for me. I'm really not even hungry. Bipley > > OK, the 1st week of clear liquids was a breeze for me but the beginning of the 2nd is KICKING my butt! Guest guest
Shirley here, I would like to wish everyone on this site as well as Nina and all the staff a very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. Being banded is certainly not for Wimps. It still take a lot of work. I want to say "Congratulations" to all you losers and Thank You for being an inspirtation for me. I was banded in May of this year and have no regrets of my choice of Dr's, Hospitals or anything else. I think they are THE MOST WONDERFUL GROUP OF FOLKS any where. And the most wonderful caring folks on this board that are always willing to help others reach their goal also. I wish everyone a wonderful losing New Year...Everyone is looking great. Love the pics and hope you continue to lose. ga cr <bgaroo@...> wrote: Alli, Thursday was one week for me I was fine the first week like you the second week is definitely harder try to keep focused on the goal. Guest guest
Drink some bone, beef and chicken broths. You might want to call and check with the doc first. The next day, I've got a wonderful, rich broth. Cathe

You might want to read the Mineral Bone Broth article on Bee's website. I think it's in the Recipes folder. There are different cooking times for different bones (poultry vs. everything else if I remember correctly). I didn't buy much meat with bones before this diet either, but now I LOOK for bones!!! It's a whole new world! Cathe

Guest guest
... you cook it at such a low temperature, I don't worry about leaving it on when I'm not home. I do chicken broth 17-24 hours, and beef bone broth 24-48 hours. My last beef broth turned into gelatin like it's supposed to too! Doug > > Cathe, how long do you let it cook? Guest guest
Ok, I feel totally stupid. I am NOT a good cook, and I can mess anything up, even this. LOL! I left it in the crockpot and went out today, only to come home and find that I'm basically just frying a bone because all the water was gone! What did I do wrong? I'm gonna have to go out and buy broth I guess, since I need it for tomorrow. I guess I can just chalk tomorrow up to being a bad diet day, since I'll have to have store bought broth and the yucky phospho-soda stuff, plus they told me to drink soda after the phospho-soda (I hate soda - ugh!) Guest guest
You either had it on high instead of low... or you didn't put the glass lid on the crock pot... or BOTH! Doug
Guest guest
How old is your crock pot? Sometimes they can " go funny " when they get too old. My Mom's would sometimes not get warm when she turned it on or else got too hot. She had to buy a new one. I had it on low AND had the lid on. Hmmmm. I wonder if my husband turned it up while I was gone.
Guest guest
I am glad the topic about the juices was brought up. We are currently trying to revamp our Clear Liquids-diet for when they are in hospital. Do you all supply a clear liquid protein on their trays such as the Isopure or New Whey Liquid Protein? Or can anyone give me an example of what their tray ticket would look like for a clear liquid diet? M. Guest guest
Does any one else have surgeons that forbid even decaff coffee and tea because of tannins and the small amount of caffeine still in decaf? Our program doesn't allow it because of gastric irritation and increased risk of ulcer? Guest guest
We donāt allow decaf for the first month, while they are healing. After that we encourage them to limit to 2 cups per day. Guest guest
Check the www.asbs.org site for the document "Integrated Health Nutritional Guidelines for the Surgical Weight Loss Patient" and see page 25 (Table 9). This documents what should be avoided or delayed reintroduction post-op. Caffeine is on the 'avoid/delay reintroduction' list. es RDMills Peninsula Health Services1501 Trousdale DriveBurlingame, CA 94010650.696.5779 (phone)650.985.3014 (pager)monicamartinesrd@...>> Hi All,>> Have any of you come across refernece books strictly geared to> treating bariatric patients, that have been useful in your daily> practice?>> Send e-mail anywhere. Guest guest
I work with Bariatrix, a protein company specific to bariatric patients. We supply a clear liquid drink that the patient mixes with water, so they can mix with either 2/4/6/8 ounces of water. Most hospitals like this because the send up the packet and the water so there is no labor involved. The supplement contains arginine and glutamine and is a whey protein. We also provide a high protein broth (15 grams per 8 ounces. If you are interest in more information or a sample please contact me at: optimalrd@... with a title " hospital bariatrix " In addition, we have many RD that will make the various supplements available to their outpatients. We are able to work with people in ordering small quantities (ie 1/2 case. It's a very nice way to supplement income. Peace, Aimee
