Just a sad/funny note to show sugar/white flour etc. really is a drug. . .

We are a pretty healthy family, eating very small amounts of sugar and

healthy snacks and whole grains only, usually sprouted etc. However

grandma likes to connect with junior through " treats " (egggghhhhh) and

easter was a disaster for my little guy. SUGAR OVERLOAD!!! his little

body of course responded with hyperactiveness, sleeplessness,

diarehea, etc. and I was already doing diet for my nursing baby so i

said ENOUGH!!! and put the two year old and my husband on the diet

too. I have started slowly, still letting the little guy have some

toast or brown rice every day to ease into the diet. but today he was

absolutely out of his mind with cravings!!! He was running around the

house saying, i want chip! i want toast with jam! i want goodie! i

want chip! over and over. (this after he already had an enormous

breakfast of one whole grain waffle, TWO eggs cooked in butter, and a

little whole milk yogurt. (again trying to ease him into the diet.)

that is a HUGE meal for him he is usually a light eater.) I felt so

bad for the guy and also horrible for allowing his little body to

become so dependent on those foods! I got him to eat some chicken and

he settled in for a nice sound sleep(sleeping much better later!) so

thought i would post this to encourage other moms.
