Guest guest
Hi all - I emailed costco - where i buy my Mediterranean Sea Salt and asked if it contains iodine or minerals - Here is the reply i received: " This item has no iodine. It has a trace amount ( .25 mg ) or less of minerals. " Just an FYI!! Can any of you recommend the type of celtic sea salt i should purchase? There was something about a flower one - and then the crystals versus the fine. Thanks!
Guest guest
, Many people here use a salt that is actually named, Celtic Sea Salt. You can find good prices online at. Azure Standard. Check back through recent posts of Doug's...he posted the info for a good deal on 5lbs. of Celtic Sea Salt from Azure Standard. It's also available through eBay and from the Grain and Salt Society. jackie > > Hi all - > I emailed costco - where i buy my Mediterranean Sea Salt and asked if > it contains iodine or minerals - Here is the reply i received: " This > item has no iodine. Guest guest
Thank for the info, Jackie. What i was curious about, though, was the specific type of salt people buy at the azure standard - there are different kinds. Should i get the crystals and put them in a salt grinder? Should i get the fine? The flower? Thanks! > Many people here use a salt that is actually named, Celtic Sea Salt. > You can find good prices online at. Azure Standard. Guest guest
BP017 crystals. Yes, you use a salt grinder. (Azure sells them too). All the other kinds are expensive. Guest guest
Hi Doug, Speaking of salt grinders, I can't get my coarse Celtic sea salt to grind in the flash new one I just bought. Any suggestions? It's like it won't 'grab' the salt, maybe because of the moisture content? Cheers, > > > > Thank for the info, Jackie. Guest guest
I had that problem with my new one at first. Did you buy it from Azure? It takes a week or two to break it in so that it grinds well. Also, because of the moisture, I have to give it a good shake every few turns to force the salt into the top. I'm pleased with it though... sure beats grinding it up in my coffee grinder as before! Also, it helps is you have a separate bowl and put salt in there (uncovered) so it can dry out a little more prior to putting it in the grinder. The Celtic company says the moisture content doesn't make it any healthier or unhealthier... it's just a matter of preference. (For instance, the fine grind they sell is just the crystals that have been dried and crushed). Happy grinding! The larger the crystals the higher the mineral content. Cheers, Bee
Guest guest
Hi Doug, I did not get the grinder from Azure, it's Cole & Mason brand. I guess I will wait for it to wear in as you suggest. I have tried leaving the salt out to dry, unfortunately it seems to attract moisture instead! Thanks,
