I have recently had a baby and he got thrush which I then got in my

breasts. I have tried all the usual stuff the Dr's prescribe and now

have gone to see a homeopath. I am now on this very strict diet and am

also taking acidophilus and Exmykehl drops.

Is this any good and is there anything specific I can do? It is too

painful to breastfeed my son so I have been expressing and feeding him

in a bottle for two months now.

Please help me if you can

Thank you

Mina

Hello Dear Mina,

Oh, I feel for you and I remember the pain. I had that with my second

and third babies. With my second baby, I just suffered through it for

months and it finally went away. With my third baby, I had found a

holistic doctor and he prescribed a Nystatin ointment to put on my

nipples and liquid Nystatin for my baby. It worked well. The pain was

excruciating; I dreaded each feeding but was determined to breastfeed

after my failed attempt with my first baby. With my fourth baby, I was

more aware of candida during pregnancy and did eat a healthier diet and

also used Monistat before I gave birth. I had no thrush problems at

all and he has been the healthiest baby I've had.

Thank you for your reply. I will carry on with the current treatment I got from

a homeopath. Its encouraging to know that there is indeed light at the end of

the tunnel! I have been tempted to quit breastfeeding so many times now, but am

quite determined to feed my baby the best.

Cheers!

Mina

if you want him to eventually breastfeed him again (it will stop

hurting eventually) you might want to let him nurse every once in a

while even though it hurts - so he doesnt forget how.

i have the same probalem i know how bad it hurts.

hang in there! jill
