Guest guest
I know bacterial vaginosis is related to too much dairy (really it's the pasteurized stuff - but we're not eating that now anyway) and too much sugar for sure. Having said that, it resolves itself - especially as you increase the good bacteria in your body. I've had it a few times and the docs always want you to take antibiotics (which doesn't work usually and really just shuts down one's body) as well as a yeast cream for the inevitable (b/c of the candida overgrowth causing it in the first place) yeast infection. I was lucky enough to have an ob/gyn who explained all this to me when I was pregnant w/my first. This is what I would do and have done - insert probiotics in your vagina at night before you go to sleep. Alternate that w/a clove of garlic (you can put a long piece of floss through it w/a needle to remove it in the morning like a tampon) to take care of the bad bacteria. Obviously, you'll want to be doing that stuff internally as well. I know it sounds like a buffet, but it really is helpful and much more effective than all the meds as well as beneficial. Seriously, it's a systemic issue resulting from candida overgrowth and happens a lot when one has been on birth control and/or antibiotics a lot. HTH!!! I have had this bv infection for over 25 years on and off. I wish they would come up with an over the counter medication like they do for yeast infections.. Because I get so embarrassed when I have to call and make an appointment for this virus. The doctors keep telling me that this is not a sexually transmitted disease, but it seems to get worse after I have sex, even with condom use I seem to get it. Guest guest
I struggled with BV for years after I got married! It was horrible and so embarassing! My OB was no help just prescribing some OTC which worked at the time and then it always came back. I do believe it was a result of birth control and overgrown yeast. After I stopped BC and started a candida diet it was gone and never has come back! Hope you find some answers,
Guest guest
Me too, I had it on & off for a few years too plus tons of UTI's. Since starting the diet and going off the pill, I have not had one since. Although, now I am an off the strict part of the diet and I have been able to introduce new foods including a bit of dairy. > > I struggled with BV for years after I got married! BV is created by the body in order to clean up the area involved just candida is, so bacteria do serve a purpose in the whole scheme of things. BV can be treated the same as you would vaginal yeast. All of the antifungals I recommend help - see " Vaginal Yeast Treatments " : http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/women6.php Direct treatments won't always cure BV, no more than they will cure vaginal yeast, but they can help alleviate symptoms in the meantime while you continue on the diet and supplements. My vaginal problems were the last symptoms to go away when I cured my candida and I had different kinds of bacteria as well as yeast. Guest guest
Thanks ladies. Another question..it is detected in a yearly pap smear? I read that somewhere and called my Gyno to ask and they said " yes " it is tested for, and " NO " I did not have it. (If that's what they think then I'd like them to tell me what I have then) It's nothing more than some discharge..no odor, itching, etc. Amy

Guest guest
It's detected on pap smears as Clue Cells and sometimes you might now even know what you have it. the first indication is a change of smell down there.
