Mullein clears congestion. Nettle reduces sneezing and itchy eyes. Astragalus strengthens immune system. Eucalyptus is a decongestant. Red clover is a blood and liver cleanser. Vitamin and mineral supplements Vitamin C is a natural anti histamine. Take 1,000-3,000 mg per day. Taking it in a powdered or liquid form makes it easier for the body to assimilate. Sea (irish) moss softens and relieves irritation of the mucus membrane. Foods that help Onions inhibit allergic reactions and clear chest congestion. Citrus fruits - the white pith of lemons and oranges is a natural antihistamine. Ginger tea reduces sinus inflammation. Garlic is an antihistamine and defends the body against allergens. Raw fruits and veggies cleanse the toxins from body and strengthen your immune system. Water therapy Steam inhalation: Fill a pot, preferably glass or enamel, with water and heat. When it begins to boil, turn the heat off and add herbs or a few drops of essential oils. Inhale the steam for 5 to 10 minutes. Be sure not to put your face so close that it will burn. You can also drape a towel over your head to make a “tent.” Repeat this process as needed. Herbs such as peppermint, eucalyptus, fennel and fenugreek can be used. Nose irrigation: Add 1/4 tsp sea salt plus a pinch of golden seal (or 1/8 tsp baking soda) in 4 ounces of warm water. Administer to nostrils with an eyedropper twice a day, or use a neti pot. Foods to avoid This next list of foods actually releases histamines in the body. If you are having a bad time dealing with your allergies, eliminating these foods may help to lessen or eliminate your allergy symptoms. Keeping a weekly food journal of everything you eat can also help to determine if any of these foods are affecting your allergies. Alcohol, bananas, certain nuts, chocolate, eggs, fish, milk, papayas, pineapple, shellfish, strawberries and tomatoes. Suzi What is a weed? How have you been? >I'm having trouble with all the ragweed and moulds that are out >there, and the diet seems more difficult right now. I too was having problems with ragweed lately, then I started to put coconut oil in my nostrils and the ears with a q-tip before going out, at home numerous times especially if the windows are open and when going to bed. Give it a try it might help you also.
