Dear All,No - it is unethical. Journals (some of them) insist on written permission from those acknowledged to prevent this kind of thing happening.GitanjaliOn Sun, Jan 4, 2009 at 8:35 AM, anupama sukhlecha <anupama_acad@...> wrote:

Dear Dr Smita,

Some authors give high sounding acknowledgements to get extra credits for their MS

Eg. I am extremely thankful to DrXYZ , Director of World...., Advisor National... , Senior Consultant ....Apollo Hospital for going through my manuscript.

Is that ethical?

Hi,

Authors may write anything. It is peer reviewers job to edit/correct

the material. All superlatives, parrallel meaning words, adjectives

should be removed. If not, then it indicates the inexperience, poor

knowledge, and failure of the reviewer.

Acknowledging someone for internal peer review is not unethical but

for " going through " is certainly not ethical.
