Guest guest
I have a question I wonder any of you would have the answer to! I know I have gallstones (found out 2 years ago when I was suffering from kidney stones), but they give me no pain or discomfort and never have. I figure the doctor won't remove my gallbladder if I am having no physical pain from it...but what if I end up needing the gallbladder surgery in the future and I am banded? Does the band get in the way of future stomach surgeries? ~Deb (pre-op 6/16/05)
Guest guest
Hi, Deb - Some people who lose weight rapidly (like the bypass patients) often have gallbladder problems and need the gallbladder removed later. a much smaller percentage of Bandsters also need their gallbladders out later, and this is not a problem -almost always done laparoscopically, also. Do, however, discuss this carefully with a very experienced Band surgeon. Depending on the status of your GB , and the known gallstones,, it may be advisable to have your GB removed along with the band surgery. The GB is NOT routinely removed when it is healthy, but - in your case - they may wish to prevent future problems. SAndy R > I have a question I wonder any of you would have the answer to! Guest guest
My 14 yr old daughter had her gallbladder removed about 5 months after being banded it was two weaks from hell for her, she did not have fluid taken out didnt mush matter as they astrved her in the hospital anyhow, she's doing great now..\ Amy in NY Gall Bladder Surgery I have read that several of you had your gall bladders removed prior to being banded, but has anyone had their gall bladder taken out AFTER the lap band was placed. If so, what happened, does your fill remain in during the surgery, does it affect your eating habits afterward, etc...Any information about a Cholecystectomy, the procedure itself and any recovery tips would be helpful. Thanks,Angel
Guest guest
Angel, I have had gall bladder surgery. I was 20 and had a new baby. It was a difficult surgery...worse by far than having a baby. We lived in South Caroling at the time and my mother flew back to take care of the baby. As soon as my stitches were removed we drove back to California - my mom flew home with the baby because the dr. wouldn't let me drive with him. That baby will be 40 years old in December!miamiangel888 <miamiangel888@...> wrote: I have read that several of you had your gall bladders removed prior to being banded, but has anyone had their gall bladder taken out AFTER the lap band was placed. Guest guest
Hi all, my sister in law has been advised that her recent complaints of pain (confrmed by bee's article on gall bladder) are pain in the shoulder blade and down right side. anyway, of course he wants to operate. I told her I would forward Bee's information to her, but was wondering is there a page on specifically the best things to do and eat when you're already showing signs of disease? or should she just follow the diet (taking care to introduce good fats slowly) until her pain begins to subside? Thanks. PS - does anyone have any tricks to make the coconut oil easier to manage after its been in the refrigerator? Thanks.
