Guest guest
Oh yeah! I forgot about the liquid! Here's a link that has some equivalents. It's near the bottom of the page. http://www.gourmetsleuth.com/sr_stevia.htm > Hi I thought about using stevia and found it in our health food store. It > came both as a liquid and as granules. Guest guest
I purchased from WFN and have been reading lately that some people make their own syrup type stevia from simmering the leaf in water. You can store that in the refrigerator and it is supposedly easier to gauge how much you are using to avoid the bitterness. I have found when using too much it is bitter. I do also purchase from NOW products. www.nowcatalog.com. I buy a small bottle of stevia in vegetable glycerin that I keep in my purse. Vegetable Glycerin is probably bad for you but I use it occasionally. Great service and 40% off of list prices on NOW brand vitamins, herbs, etc. There is a white powdered version of stevia out there as well but I try to stay away from the processed version as much as possible. I know several people who just exclusively use the liquid or the powdered white version but some might have fillers in it. I have found that using the green leaf variety does not mess with my sugar levels at all. I am not diabetic but do react to sugar. Guest guest
That fine cut stevia leaf you bought at WFM is the worst quality and difficult to work with at best. I suggest the ground whole leaf stevia for use in soups and as a wonderful tea with fresh ginger and lemon juices. I drink this exclusively and use it as the liquid ingredient to saute root veg. I wrote a book with coconut and stevia - Coconut Cuisine featuring Stevia. You can purchase the cut leaf variety at wildernessfamilynaturals.com. SweetLeaf's stevia clear liquid and FOS are my other suggestions. Jan > I want to give stevia another try. The green powder I bought at > Whole GFoods a few years back made everything taste bitter. Guest guest
Alobar, I might add my favorite Stevia Liquid is Ancient of the Wisdom's Liquid Concentrate. It's a brown liquid concentrate and does not carry any aftertaste or chemical taste in it. You can find it at this link: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/browse/sku_detail.jhtml;$sessionid$IQ305QMJAKEH GCQUAOWSM4QKCQB1AGXK?SkuID=12026 & BreadCrumbType=SearchResult Roxana @ WFN Re: Re: stevia question Jan , this is very confusing. Guest guest
Hi i am wondering what brand and form of stevia is allowed? The only i can find around here is called NuNaturals and it has maltodextrin added to it. It is white and flowy like sugar. I have read things before that say if your stevia is white it is processed. So where do i find a pure stevia with nothing added? TIA

A 2 oz. container is only $1.92 and it's the green, natural powder. a
Guest guest
>Buy green leaf stevia from Mountain Rose. Then grind it yourself. It lasts FOREVER. >Doug Does that one smell like a laxative (cascara sagrada) and taste a little bit like it, too? I just tasted the one from NOW brand that I referred to in my last post, and I am not sure I can get it down. I put ¼ tsp or less in a cup of decaf and I still get that nasty aftertaste. The one I had before was liquid (had bought it before finding this group) and it tasted much better. a > > Hi i am wondering what brand and form of stevia is allowed?
