I have really bad thrush in my mouth, I went to see 2 doctor's today for Nystatin powder and they bothy tell me there is NO such a thing. He wanted to give me a scriot for the liquid and I refused because of the sugar content..... the doctor's told me to use Amosan and acidilophus ...... well the acidilophus is not working for me because I take them daily now ...... Where do you all get the Nystatin powder? Maddy Maddy, do a google search for Nystatin. Most of us don't take it at all. We increase coconut oil & antifungals instead. Guest guest
Thank you Susie I hear people on this site talking about how good it is for thrush and they're buying it somewhere but I don't know from which place. it seems what I'm using is surely not working. You could call all the drug stores in your area, tell them what you want & find one that has the powder or will order it for you. WalMart pharmacy will try hardest for you. Then call your doctor back. Susie

Hopefully you were able to take 6 tbl. of coconut oil before starting on oregano oil. And you wouldn't take acidophilus until the last step of the program for reasons explained in my article " How to Successfully Overcome Candida. " Candida is only cured by building up your immune system. It doesn't work to " try to " just kill it off. And it takes time and patience - 1 month of natural healing for every year. Any treatments for thrush, etc. may help soothe the symptoms somewhat but they won't cure them until your immune system is built up. And also all symptoms intensify when you first start on the program. The best, Bee

Guest guest
Hi Maddy, As you've seen by what Bee and others have written, Nystatin might not be the way for you to go right now. You're really in the early stages of the diet and treating this and that symptom are not what is important (unless of course you are in a lot of discomfort). Progressing on the diet is most important. As you progress the symptoms you experience will come and go. If you do a message search for " thrush " or " oral thrush " at our group site you'll find that thrush is a common problem and one that sometimes increases while doing the diet, as well as a problem that takes a long time to finally go away. Unless the thrush is really causing you some sort of problem (i.e. pain or irritation) you don't need to directly treat it. By continuing with the diet, you're already treating it! ) That said, those two doctors you spoke with were wrong. Nystatin powder IS available. If you decide in future that Nystatin is something you need to add to your healing regime, print out the Nystatin information that we have in the files. That info clearly states the maker/supplier of Nystatin powder (Paddock Labs) so that your doctor and pharmacist can get you the right stuff from the right place. jackie > > Does anyone know where to buy Nystatin in Ontario? Guest guest
Hi Jackie Thank you for the information and advice. Yes, I see from Bee's advice along with others that Nystatin may not be the proper thing to do right now. The thrush is not giving me pain but there are times when my saliva is very thick ( especially when I get up in the morning) and white and I feel there is something stuck in my throat. It takes a while to get it all cleared. I started the diet pretty much over 2 months ago now eliminating all the candida feeding foods. I am starting to feel better, much less brain fog, more energy, feeling less depressed and a just a better feeling in general. Good luck Jackie Maddy jahlstrom78 <jahlstrom@...> wrote: Hi Maddy, As you've seen by what Bee and others have written, Nystatin might not be the way for you to go right now. Then call your doctor back. Susie > Maddy, My doctor is Dr. Brodsky - he wrote the introduction to The Yeast Connection, 3rd edition. Dr. Brodsky prescribes Nystatin for me - this is how the prescription reads: ORAL Nystatin powder. I get enough for a month at 1 teaspoon a day. 1 teaspoon is 4 million units. You must have a prescription and it must be compounded. Thrush cannot happen without a concomittant overgrowth in the gut. Please read the Yeast Connection, 3rd edition. There you will find that Nystatin does metabolize in the blood. It must actually touch the yeast it kills. Make sure the precription says ORAL POWDER. The topical powder has talc in it. It's pretty expensive - one month is $110.00. You can call Cape Drugs in polis, MD and order it there. This is the compounding pharmacy that Teitlebaum uses. Regualr precription Nystatin is a hard tab. Not as effective at all. Does not distribute well and does not go into blood. Sits hard against stomach lining and mat cause problems. Follow the diet and then work up to a tsp per day in water. The die-off can be more severe than with azole drugs as it hits the gut hard. Swish with it for 20 minutes. I am under doctor's supervision in easy-sniff of the Nystatin smoke after shaking it up in the container. Please read the book and get your doc a copy. Currently, I am working with an allergist in formulating allergy shots for candida. I received a candida shot at Dr. Alan Lieberman's clinic in South Carolina and had a delayed reaction that lasted for a week - a huge hump on my arm. it was red and itchy. hope this helps - watch out for die-off and, when you start the regimen, DO NOT STOP as rebloom can happen with a vengeance. carol
