Guest guest
, Did your daughter have a lot of ear infections or throat infections in the past ? Did she take any back to back courses of antibiotics ? She sounds as though she may have a yeast overgrowth. That can often go undetected and cause sugar cravings - it feeds the yeasts. How about tantrums? You may want to consider a course of probiotics. I would look into either Garden of Life's " Primal Defense " or Nature's Way " Primadophilus/Bifidus " (refrigerated only). Yeast overgrowth can also cause malabsorbtion of vitamins. That could be the reason she is craving the chocolate. Could be a Zinc and Magnesium deficiency brought on by the yeast and the chocolate could be elevating the copper which is making the Zinc problem worse. Why not get a Organic Urine Acids test done to see what exactly is going on with her. If she is malabsorbing it is not going to be helpful to take any sort of supplement without addressing the yeast overgrowth. [ ] Craving My daughter is always craving ice cream, sweets, and chocolate is the worse. She always is stealing chocolate from the the baking chips. Is there a food she can eat that will stop this problem? What is she lacking? Or is there something she can take to stop this problem? Guest guest
No she didnt have many infections, but she did take some antibiotics but I would not say alot. I have felt she had a magnesium deficiency because of her tics. I will have to see if she has a yeast infection. I feel she has some problem but did not know why she was craving so bad. I would imagine the doctors do a test on that if I asked? Thanks so much for the info. > , > Did your daughter have a lot of ear infections or throat infections in the past ? Guest guest
Mike, I have heard of this. I decided to call the doctor and ask anyway, just to see if they would support this theory. But I spoke to a nurse and she blew it off all together. Now I know the doctor is not going to support it either. She just said if she uninates alot then get checked for diabetes. Isnt it true that you can get rid of a yeast infection with cranberry juice? Of is there something else? Thanks you have been very helpful > , > Did your daughter have a lot of ear infections or throat infections in the past ? Did she take any back to back courses of antibiotics ? Guest guest
, Whenever I have a bladder infection, I drink a lot of cranberry juice but just the other day I read that if you drink alot of water until your urine is clear that it works better than the cranberry juice and so I decided to try this and it is true, it worked for me several times already. However, I know that it works for bladder infections but not yeast infections. They sell OTC products for yeast infections such as suppositories and vagisil works for me whenever I have a yeast infections, you might want to try that. Good Luck! Guest guest
, A yeast overgrowth is different from a yeast infection. Yeast overgrowth can lead to a yeast infection but they are different. The yeast overgrowth would actually be in the gut not in the vagina. The yeast can take over and kill of the good bacteria that is necessary for digestion, the proper absorbtion of vitamins, and the making of seratonin. Cranberry juice would be counter productive as it is full of sugar. If you sucpect yeast overgrowth you would want to eliminate yeast products, sugar, honey and the like and take a probiotic available over the counter as I described in my earlier post. You may want to read Dr. Atkins on the subject. You can easily get his books in your library. Reading him will help you to understand that the nuirse you spoke to was ill informed. Check either his " New Diet Revolution " which has a chpater on yeast overgrowth or his " Vita-Nutrient Solution " book. Also Dr. Crook has done a lot of writing on yeast overgrowth. I will post a short article on yeast overgrowth by Dianne Craft C.N.H.P for you to read too in my next post. Good luck Re: [ ] Re: Craving , Whenever I have a bladder infection, I drink a lot of cranberry juice but just the other day I read that if you drink alot of water until your urine is clear that it works better than the cranberry juice and so I decided to try this and it is true, it worked for me several times already. Guest guest
Mike's suggestions are very sound. Give her lots of PLAIN yoghurt for the beneficial bacteria and Magnesium. The organic acid test can be quite helpful in sorting out this problem. Minimize carbs in her diet, even if it means getting the stuff out of the house. That's what we had to do. mjh In a message dated 10/7/2004 3:07:42 PM Eastern Daylight Time, writes: Message: 12 Date: Thu, 07 Oct 2004 16:07:18 -0000 From: angel_lts@... Guest guest
Yes my mom said the same thing. I have to get some plain yoghurt. We buy it once in a while. We mix it with fruit they like it. Thanks > > , > > Did your daughter have a lot of ear infections or throat infections > in the past ? Guest guest
Sometimes I get this intense craving to something crunchy. All the food that I eat is soft ie., Veggies, eggs, fish etc I end up eating cereal with Milk or Nuts. I want to replace these with something else. I am considering those expensive Vegetable Chips, Terra something. But still they are chips, fried etc.. which I want to avoid. Any suggestions?
