The major symptom you had previously will intensify for awhile so don't be concerned that your throat is feeling worse, although it is very irritating. See this article which explains about die-off and symptoms intensifying: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/heal2.php You can do a number of remedies to help alleviate the symptoms see the article on Cold, Cough & Flu, and also you can do one or more of the remedies in the Thrush treatments article: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/colds.php http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/treat18.php It is particularly helpful to ensure the air you breathe has plenty of moisture, which is explained in the cough/cold article. > > In the meantime, I am desperately searching for relief in a candida- > safe form. To soothe your esophagus take Pepto Bismol which contains natural Bismuth which is known to cure ulcers. Find one that doesn't contain aluminum. Also you can take some baking soda in water but don't take too much of it or too oten since it will throw off mineral balances since it is high in sodium (mix 1/4 tsp. baking soda in water and sip it until your symptoms subside). Ensure you are taking enough Betaine HCl too. Take good care and let me know how you do with these suggestions. Thanks for always helping. I am still searching for something that will heal & protect my esophagus from reflux. Baking soda tends to make my mouth & throat even dryer than it usually is. In my search for a Bismuth product that doesn't contain aluminum, I have not been able to find Pepto Bismol without magnesium aluminum silicate. Everything else has some kind of sugar (sucralose, sorbitol) These are the products that I found: 1) Maalox Maximum Strength Total Stomach Relief: Bismuth Subsalicylate 525 mg; Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium , Flavor , Methylparaben , Microcystalline Cellulose , Propylene Glycol , Propylparaben , Purified Water , Salicylic Acid , Sodium Salicylate , Sorbitol , Sucralose , Xanthan Gum 2) Maalox Multi Action: Bismuth Subsalicylate (35 mg / mL). methyl paraben, microcrystalline cellulose, propyl paraben, propylene glycol, salicylic acid, sodium salicylate, sorbitol, strawberry / peppermint flavours, sucralose, water, xanthan gum. 3) Kaopectate: Each 5ml contains: Bismuth Subsalicylate (262mg), Caramel, Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium, FD & C Red 40, Flavor, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Water Purified, Sodium Salicylate, Sorbic Acid, Sucrose, Titanium Dioxide, Xanthan Gum 4) Pepto Bismol: Bismuth subsalicylate 262 mg. benzoic acid, flavor, magnesium aluminum silicate, methylcellulose, red 22, red 28, saccharin sodium, salicylic acid, sodium salicylate, sorbic acid, water And here is info on the DGL that I would like to use: DGL Root Extract: Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra), powdered extract 10:1 (root) 400 mg, Calories 5, Total Carbohydrate 1 g; Other Ingredients: Dextrose, cellulose, maltodextrin, guar gum, purified water, magnesium stearate (vegetable grade). Questions: Which of the products above would be the least harmful? What if I only took 2 DGL tablets per day? Also, when I looked up bismuth subsalicylate, some websites said that it is a mild antibiotic. Wouldn't this be bad for candida overgrowth? Thank, again, for your generous help. Instead drink Raw Ginger tea (4 cups total per day) and/or chew on raw ginger (if you don't mind it) - just suck out the juice and throw the pulp away.
