He said normal levels are 200-500, and mine were <100, which is as

specific as the test gets. (I don't know whether my level is 5, 50

or 99) He recommended that I supplement with Biotin and see if my

energy/way I feel improves.

I have been taking 100% recommended supplements. For the past 3

months, I have also been supplementing with 5000 - 10,000 mcg of

Biotin per day, because of what I read on Mercola about consuming

raw eggs.

Doug, how did you decide on the 5,000-10,000 mcg dosage ? My biotin

supp is only 300 mcg, once per day. Have you considered separating the

eggs & use just the yolks each day ? Best, Susie

Yes... I suppose I could consume the yolks raw, and quickly cook the

whites each morning. I definitely want the benefit of the raw

yolks! My NOW brand biotin supplement is 5000 mcg (5 mg). I've read

that you can't really take too much and the body would throw off what

it doesn't need... so sometimes I take 2 per day. (The bottle even

says to take 1-2 per day, so it's not like I'm supplmenting too

much). From the look of my results, it looks like I'm not

supplementing enough! :)

I'm getting ready to post an info sheet on Biotin... it states some

people take up to 40 mg (40,000 mcg) per day with no ill effects.

I'm not going to take that much, but I'll probably go for at least 20

mg (20,000 mcg) for at least a month to see if it helps me feel any

better.

I can tell a difference when I drink the egg drink and when I stop it

for a month, as I have in the past.

Maybe the timing was insufficient between going off Biotin supp &

resuming the egg drink, who knows. Remember that the protein in eggs

is about 50% yolk & 50 % whites. Try separating your eggs & just use

the raw yolks so you don't have to give up the egg drink. You can make

up the for the egg " white protein loss " with meat. Susie

The egg drink is a staple for me and as I'm aware of the biotin/raw

white issue I blend the eggs, spices, fats and boiling water for a

couple minutes.A search on the internet shows an egg can be poached

(cooked) in one to three minutes. In my mind, this would cook the egg

white. I do this with both the egg drink and fake cream. I only add

cold water or ice at the very end.

Doug,

Dr. Mercola is very wrong about biotin deficiency, and Sally Fallon

at Weston A. Price has written about how wrong he is and why:

http://www.westonaprice.org/bookreviews/nograindiet.html

Then Sally herself makes a big mistake by stating that raw eggs white

contain enzymes that interfere with protein digestion. I disagree,

as well as a Weston A. Price Chapter Leader, an Orthmolecular

Physician from Australia. Carnivous animals in the wild don't stop

to remove egg whites and IF they had digestive problems don't you

think they would show up?

See this reference for B complex information.

Yes, but in the wild, wild animals have healthy intestinal flora.

People with candida do not have healthy flora because of bad things

we have eaten/drunk in the past as well as antibiotics use, and some

can't manufacture the biotin in the intestines like normal people

can. Biotin deficiency is very rare... but I've read it's very

common in people who consume raw eggwhites.

Surely there's no harm in people getting tested to make sure.
