Guest guest
No doubt this post will get some reaction! However, " in the name of science " I thought I'd share it, plus see if anyone has any ideas on this as my whole deep abdominal pain issue has been a black hole of mystery for over 10 years. I had posted a little while back about my " Baseball Bat Gut " as I call it, (due to the deep pain of feeling like I have been hit in the abdomen with a huge brick or something). The pain can last for months nonstop and seems to be associated with " locked on muscles " inside at the intestinal level that are palpable and bulging like an anaconda. The SCD Diet and Bee's (for 5 months) had tamed the beast mostly but it was always right there lurking. In early July it came back - possibly triggered by a mini dose of B vitamins; I never know for sure. Anyway, after four weeks of increasingly debilitating pain that even reacted to bone broth, mush and almost no food for a few days, I decided to put aside the Diet somewhat for an experiment. Right now it is essential that I keep working as have been unable to for a long time and it is taking precedence over most anything else. Hence the decision to try two old puzzling things that " fixed " the long pain cycles a few times in the past. Ice cream and/or mild fresh fruits. A week ago I switched to just fresh fruit from our peach trees, plus a few ripe bananas. Did that for a day and then added some ice cream every day for a few days. The pain went away within hours and has been gone now for the last 7 days since I did that. Am back to working long, hard days and no noticeable ill effects. Absolutely bizarre huh?! But experience from many years has shown me that a radical shift like that just about always stops the pain cycle. This is NOT a placebo, as things I would have thought would do that or should do that did not, despite my " expectations " , etc. I have no idea what is really going on, as in the past, fruit was a trigger for pain!!! I had not eaten fruit for a couple of years prior to the: " To hell with it " in Thailand last year [The land of FRUIT!] where it once again stopped a 2 month pain cycle in 24 hours and my " safe foods " and mushes were doing nothing to help. Well, this is long enough though I could add a lot more about how goofy this whole gut thing has been for so many years. The GI docs I saw were equally confused, yet assured me that it was real and I was not imagining it. Endoscopies during a bout also showed everything looking just " peachy keen " (excuse the pun) and normal. There is a grand prize if anyone figures this out. Sorry if the thought of peaches and ice cream gets some folks salivating and wired. This is NOT a cheat in my book, as I have no real cravings for the stuff. It is just a tool to keep me functioning. Best to all, M.
