Guest guest
Just wondering what you ladies are using that is safe (er) to color your hair? I have so much grey with a very few of my natural color left and the greys are very resistent. I've thought of just letting it go naturally but it gives me a washed out look and it looks terrible ..... any suggestions? I tried searching on Bee's site but couldn't seem to find anything. I used one from the pharmacy yesterday and I know I should not be using that as it is loaded with chemicals. I Maddy
Guest guest
Hi, , For black hair, I found out there is a plant called Indigo, which will dye your hair a blue-black tone I think. Henna is not needed. More information you can find here: http://www.hennaforhair.com/indigo/index.html http://www.wikihow.com/Dye-Your-Hair-With-Indigo Is this what were you looking for? > > Hi Ina, > I've been experimenting with using herbs to tint white hair. Sage and rosemary can be used to color hair darker. Feel free to write me offlist if you'd like to explore this possibility. > > Test yourself before using henna. Some people like it a lot and get good results. I have used henna in the past, but it made me very sick. Sick for a weekend the first time I used it, and sick for a week the second time I used it. Don't know if it had extra ingredients in it or not that caused that reaction. > > As a general note, if anyone knows of plant substances to color hair dark, but not a warm color, please let me know. Coffee, black tea, cloves all seem to add warm tones. I need more ash-y tones. > H.
Guest guest
Thanks for these links, Moyre (is that your name?). I had been looking at indigo, but since I can't use henna with it, I wasn't sure of the result. Some places said I could turn into " a little old blue-haired lady " ! That's not quite the look I was going for! I think I'll follow up on 's suggestion and look into amla. I had seen references to it, but realize now I hadn't really checked it out. Thanks for all the input. I'll keep you posted on what happens! H. > > As a general note, if anyone knows of plant substances to color hair dark, but not a warm color, please let me know. Guest guest
" a little old blue-haired lady " Yes, there are many references to amla, but I think mostly because its conditioning properties, not sure about color. There are also ayurvedic oils you might wanna check. I found these recipes (both for herbs and oils): http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=112004 & PID=1808487 Ina. > > Thanks for these links, Moyre (is that your name?).
