You don't " have to " buy all organic in order to get well; just make sure your meats and veggies are not irradiated, and that you spend your money on cod liver oil, coconut oil and other supplements. Hopefully you can find cheaper sources, or go in with someone else to buy them in bulk so they are cheaper for you. Guest guest
Jeanette, I am in a similar position, though a young mum on my husband's income. I figure, I'm just going to do the best I can. I can't afford organic eggs either, but I advertised locally for raw milk (for my boys) and the lady had eggs too - not organic as such, but at least they grub in the paddock. I pray over everything else! Thankfully in NZ we don't have barn raised beef, so I'll try eat more of that than chicken or pig. The levels required of the Vitamins gave me a headache when trying to find good brands, $1 a tablet at 4 a day for only 1 of the vitamins would definitely add up! I'm starting with cod liver oil, and I've bought coconut oil bulk using some savings, and then I will see how I go. I'm using what I hope is Nutritional Yeast Flakes, (called savoury flakes here) and will use eggs shells as calcium. Oh and I got good salt. That's me for now, and I'll just focus on eating as well as I can and having my oils, and get anything else as I am able down the track. I figure even if I'm missing some vitamins for a while, at least I'm not feeding the beast in me so much, and limiting my symptoms. I hope that helps you somehow. I know my energy levels are hugely affected by what I eat, particularly dairy and gluten foods, and of course sugar, which normally is combined with the first two in my case! So even if you just try to stick mainly to the food list, chances are you will notice a difference. Regards, Katrina - New Zealand =) Send instant messages to your online friends http://au.messenger. Guest guest
Thanks Katrina and Bee. I am glad you mentioned the Savoury Flakes. I did get some of those and wondered if they were the right ones.. I was sure I had read a comment on them earlier, but couldn't find anything on searching the files, messages or website. I have always used good salt, love butter, and I am enjoying the sauerkraut. I often used to buy that, but I am, sure what I make myself now is much better for me. Anyway I will carry on as I am, getting what I can, when I can and avoid the bad things. It is hard to get info on supermarket items these days. Not buying imports might avoid the irridation. Our local supermarket doesn't even name varieites any more, cabbage is just 'green' or 'red'. Ghee seems to have disappeared from the shelves everywhere and I would rather buy it than make it. Growing a few things helps. Before too long I'll have a crop of chokos. Not on Bee's list, but looking these veges up I see they are often called 'chayote' in the US. Perhaps these are no good for candida sufferers, but I have always valued them, particularly as I can pick them from the vine as I want them. It's illegal to sell raw milk here, but some health shops do have it labelled 'Cleopatra's Bath'. It's up to the buyer what they do with it. I was sure I had read a comment on them earlier, but couldn't find anything on searching the files, messages or website. +++Hi Jeanette. I hadn't heard of Savoury Flakes before so I looked them up. Be cautious about what kind you buy since it appears they can be pasteurized and contain salt (table salt), otherwise they appears to be the same as nutritional yeast flakes. Here in Canada they aren't pasteurized and don't contain salt. I have always used good salt, love butter, and I am enjoying the sauerkraut. I often used to buy that, but I am, sure what I make myself now is much better for me. +++Ensure your salt is an ocean sea salt, not just sea salt. That's great you are enjoying butter and sauerkraut. There is a great recipe for it on my website. > Anyway I will carry on as I am, getting what I can, when I can and avoid the bad things. It is hard to get info on supermarket items these days. Not buying imports might avoid the irridation. +++Each country sets their own standards on what kinds of foods can be irradiated. Here's Australian and New Zealand standards: http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/foodmatters/foodirradiation.cfm " To date, in Australia and New Zealand, only herbs and spices, herbal teas and some tropical fruits have been approved to be irradiated. " So don't be concerned about meats and vegetables. " <snip> > Before too long I'll have a crop of chokos.
