Guest guest
My husband just had one, and all he had to do was drink 8 oz. of something " phosphate. " Much easier than the gallon. I am sure all doctors know all the options and can guide you about it. Pat Colonoscopy Question Hi, Has anyone had to have a colonoscopy since you have had your MGB? My Dr. says that I need one, but I am wondering how it is possible to drink the gallon of NulyTely before the procedure is done. I can hardly drink 8 oz every 3 or 4 hours, so I know there is no way I can hold a gallon. I heard that there is a pill that can be taken that will have the same results. Does anyone know anything about it? I have to make my appointment this week, so please let me know ASAP. I am also afraid of the weight loss that this will give me. I am very thin, so I'm pretty concerned that this will make me start losing again. > > Gayle in OKC 3/6/03 220/120 >
Guest guest
I had both upper and lower about 2 years out. It's good to know all the plumbing is still functioning well. It is not painful, just a little uncomfortable. Go for it! aW -- Colonoscopy Question Hi, Has anyone had to have a colonoscopy since you have had your MGB? Guest guest
I would like an answer to Gayle's question, as well, as I have been told by my doctor that I should have a colonoscopy done. The folks at the hospital were VERY unsympathetic about my limitations because of the MGB and said I would just HAVE to find a way to drink all that liquid. What do I do? THanks for a speedy reply. from Seattle
Guest guest
I had a colonoscopy just a few months ago. The prep is no fun, but there is one option that is pill form and less to drink. My doc wouldn't let me do it was worried about electrolyte loss, but my husband (who has not had the mgb) did that. I would ask about it...I did ok, but got to drink slowly...you just drink and drink and drink...it is gross. There is a NEW procedure out that I just heard about that is basically like a cat scan, probably still have to do the prep, but it might be worth asking about. I DID lose a few pounds, but the procedure itself was nothing....don't remember a thing...the prep is well....NO FUN!!!! Guest guest
Gayle, It is truly a situation to overcome. I had a colonoscopy (and endoscopy) earlier this year - perhaps 2.5 yrs post-op. Nothing but pink and clear - I even had my doc give me some photos for my MGB file. Try to force yourself is all I can say. I thought the very same thing when the pharmacist handed me the 'jug' but managed to chug most of it (but the last quart was pretty difficult I must admit!). You may end up losing some weight simply because your colon will be emptied but I have been able to maintain my weight without problem - but it is nice now to worry about 'losing' weight if you aren't watching. I don;t post often but noticed no responses here. Feel free to contact me personally if I can be of help. Happy Holidays to ALL! JP MGB 1/5/01 Staring weight - 600lbs MGB Weight - 370 Current weight - 175-180 and holding steady!! Guest guest
Hi, I was wondering if anyone on the program has used NuLYTELY® with Flavor Packs (PEG- 3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride for oral solution)for their bowel cleanse in preparation for a colonoscopy? My doctor has given me this presecription and she assured me there was no sugar or starch in it. I asked if I could do my own cleanse with enemas and she said NO, I have to drink a gallon of this stuff. Thanks, Jeanne
Guest guest
I used Trilyte Solution last night as a prep to my colonoscopy/endoscopy today. I didn't use the flavor packs - they have saccharin sodium & flavored powder in them. The Trilyte solution just tasted salty. Trilyte had the same ingredients listed on the bottle as you mentioned below, but when I read the sheet of paper with the prescription info, the ingredient name says Polyethylene Glycol Electrolyte Solution. I wonder how good that is for our bodies. Good luck! > I was wondering if anyone on the program has used NuLYTELY® with Flavor Packs (PEG- > 3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride for oral solution)for their > bowel cleanse in preparation for a colonoscopy? Guest guest
Yes. I think it's harmless. If you follow instructions there won't be anything left inside you for the colonoscopy, I guarantee that. The cherry flavor is probably the best, if any of them could be said to taste good. Enjoy! <ducking and grinning> Zack On Mon, 18 Aug 2008, Jeanne Finn wrote: > Hi, > > I was wondering if anyone on the program has used NuLYTELY® with Flavor Packs (PEG- > 3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride for oral solution)for their > bowel cleanse in preparation for a colonoscopy? Guest guest
I tried a tiny bit of the flavor pack in a glass and almost gagged. I found that drinking the stuff without the flavor pack was much easier and no artificial sweetener that way. a > > > Hi, > > > > I was wondering if anyone on the program has used NuLYTELY® with Flavor Packs (PEG- > > 3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride for oral solution)for their > > bowel cleanse in preparation for a colonoscopy? Guest guest
I had to have a colonoscopy at 46 due to a family history, and I also dreaded the prep. Honestly, it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. It was probably a couple of hours and the worst was drinking the Go-Lytely. Actually, the worst was avoiding RED food! I didn't realize just how much "red" I ate until I couldn't eat any the day before. The procedure was also not a problem as I was lightly sedated. Just make sure you have someone to drive you home. The sedation did keep me . . oh. . in a happy place. . .for the rest of the day. LOL **************Recession-proof vacation ideas.
