Guest guest
> Bee, > What do you mean by coconut oil and butter " working together " ? To what end are you referring to? Just curious... Hi Anita. There are 2 pathways in the body by which fats of all kinds are processed, called Omega 6 and Omega 3 Pathways (essential fatty acids). Lauric acid, saturated fatty acid found chiefly in mother's milk and coconut oil, and in smaller amounts in butter, seems to improve the function of the omega-6 pathway. When lauric acid is present in the diet, the long chain omega-6 fatty acids accumulate in the tissues where they belong, even when consumption of essential fatty acids is low. Along the Omega 6 pathway butter also affects how the body processes fats in that pathway. All of the fats work in unison along these 2 pathways. Here's Enig's very technical and complicated article about these 2 pathways, called " Tripping Lightly Down the Prostaglandin Pathways " - prostaglandins are fats: http://www.westonaprice.org/knowyourfats/tripping.html Scroll down to the chart. Guest guest
To your health, ! ;-) ________________________________ From: <r_long@...> Coconut Oil Sent: Tue, March 15, 2011 1:31:39 PM Subject: Re: Coconut Oil and Butter  Pasha, Butter is fine. I prefer butter ghee though. Ayurvedic tradition holds it in esteem for its healing capabilities. I mixed it with black sesame powder, another ayurvedic superstar, to form a paste. This looks different, however it tastes great. > > To all of you, who want to learn more about butter and yourself (explore deeper > > this site!)
