Guest guest
Hi, Bee. I'm trying to understand the relationship between candida and hormone replacement therapy. I think I understand that if candida is in check that your hormones will balance themselves out. But until then, I feel like I need some hormone replacement since my polycystic ovaries and low progesterone are causing disfiguring cystic acne to develop during the luteal phase which is leaving severe acne depressions/scars on my face. A year ago I had my face resurfaced and subsicion done to smooth out acne scars from my younger years. Then 5 months later I started having the worst cystic acne of my life. I was diagnosed with Polycystic ovaries and low progesterone. I am 41. I believe that my candida problem started 8 months before that when I took too many antibiotics. I'm sure the candida has contributed to my hormone imbalance; however, I did not learn about candida until 7 weeks ago. My physician had prescribed some low-dose bio-identical progesterone cream to rub on my forearms during days 12 thru 27 of my cycle. It has stopped my hair from falling out, but the disfiguring acne still occurs at the same time every month. My physician wanted to give me a stronger dose of progesterone in pill form instead of cream to help with the cystic acne. So my questions are: Will taking HRT feed the candida? Will taking HRT prevent me from eliminating the candida overgrowth? (Having this disfiguring acne & developing new scars is taking its toll on me psychologically. Taking all of the supplements & following the diet has not changed my skin even though it has improved other symptoms.) Thanks for your help.
