Guest guest
How about pumpkin seeds. They are higher in protein then walnuts and are particularly good for men. Almond butter or tahini servered with carrots, celery, apples slices, etc. are nice neutral options for snacks. There is a wide variety of fruits, fresh and dried, that make great snacks. Beef jerky is great too, but you will probably have to make it yourself. It is hard to find any that doesn't have a several avoids in it and who knows what kind of beef they use. How about a hard boiled egg? Steamed and dehydrated sweet potatoes are great to chew on. How about chewing on some seaweed. Dulse is fairly mild flavored. Guest guest
Eating carbs alone also jacks up the sugar levels, especially if the carb has a high glycemic index (i.e. rice products, rice cakes, rice breakfast cereals). Combining a protein with the carb changes the digestion process and can help the sugar levels not jack up as high (only to later plunge down low--resulting in low energy, fatigue, and usually, additional " sugar " or " carb " cravings). (I crave sweets and sugars and my A blood type DH craves wheat bread, so we are affected differently, for whatever reason, blood type or other?) Combining the two helps the moods and energy levels be more steady and even over time. The best thing is to stick with OK for your blood carbs which also have a lower glycemic index, and combine with a protein. I find that even OK fruits for O (which is a carb), when eaten alone, does have a negative effect on me. RE: << EVERY TIME YOU EAT CARBS, ADD PROTEIN TO IT. Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Just wondering if anyone would care to share their snacks? I need morning and afternoon tea and am not too sure what to have! Any inspiration would be much appreciated, even a candida diet 'typical food day' for you.... Guest guest
Actually I have been avoiding snacks like the plague since I started a couple of months ago. I was having a big problem snacking during the day between meals, because I felt so ravenous - when in actuality it was the candida being ravenous. I now try to steer clear, because the habit of eating wasn't working for me. When I have to though I usually have a hard-boiled egg, sometimes grab a bit of leftover veggies from the night before (rarely). Guest guest
I also do not snack very often. When I started this diet I thought I was going to starve to death and I was losing weight so fast. However, after awhile that all settled down and I eat three big meals a day and they carry me over to the next meal. People are amazed at how much I can eat but I eat differently than they do. If I want to snack I have a very unpopular snack in my house. I peel turnips and eat them with sea salt. Yumm....for me. Tomatoes with olive oil and salt are a good one for me too. Typical breakfast is 4 eggs. Typical lunch is large garden salad with salmon covered with spices and olive oil. What I had tonight for dinner was chicken breast and veggies covered with Indian spices and water for a gravy over .5 cup of brown rice. I have the rice maybe once a week and I didn't even do that for a long time. I may stop if it becomes a problem. My usual dinner involves soups, stews or cuts of meat in the crockpot. Lots of fresh veggies. I also LOVE spaghetti over spaghetti noodles. The hardest part for me are trips on the road. I cut up veggies and hard boil eggs. I pack salads and put oil in a separate container. Friends and family still think I am so strange. Shelby

Hi . Generally snacking is not recommended, for these reasons: " Your body only needs 3 square meals per day, and some people do better only eating 2 meals per day. Snacking between meals or eating more often is not healthy. Your body needs the time between meals to digest, absorb and utilize the nutrients without having its energies directed towards digesting more food. If you eat enough food at mealtime, two to three times a day, it will sustain you until the next meal. " The best, Bee
